Touring brake light

3rd, eye-level brake light.

My Touring needs one to get registered, as it's a private import.

Was there a factory one or anything? Right now mine is fitted with an ugly aftermarket one. Just wondering if there is a more aesthetic option.

Just a thought, but would it be possible to borrow one from another make, like an older VW Golf for example? Something that mounts up in the headliner and peeks through the rear glass just below the spoiler?

Here's another option (hear me out before anyone makes a scrunchy face ). How about taking the trunk mount light off an E30 cabrio and mounting it at the trailing edge of the roof? The housing is pretty low profile and if you painted it body colour, it'd look totally factory. Minimal drilling, easy access under the headliner. So, cool or what? ...........

Regs inoz state you must have one after a certain year, I think it was early 90's as the E36 I had (1991) had 3rd brake light.

Streetspec, did you mave many hassles bringing it in to Oz? I'm planning this myself with my touring.
