Here's the deal, please tell me it's not a bearing issue
Only occurs when the motor's been sleeping for at least a couple of hours, most apparent when firing up in the morning -> steady knocking noise in idle, reacts to throttle i.e. becomes faster. When left to idle, disappears in two minutes. It's difficult to describe the noise accurately, but it sounds more like "flapping" instead of "clonk clonk". My first thought was a belt acting up, but it's nothing like I've heard before.
The valve clearances have been adjusted quite recently, and it doesn't seem to be coming from them...If it is a crankshaft bearing, what are the usual symptoms? And, no it is never audible when driving, only after cold starts. All opinions appreciated! An oil change did not cure it.
