OK, this may not be an E30 but I think this is the right section, mods if you disagree you can move it.

No budget, what would your ideal BMW be? Can be standard or modified?

I know what mine is 8)

Nice spec!

There are to many to choose from but an E92 Hartge H50 V10 is up there!
E30 wise, a mint Alpina B6S or Hartge H35 24V. Sport evo as well of course.

A tasty E28 and E24 to, as i said to many to choose from!

Chris, that Alpina is a tasty weapon 8)

Would have a 535D for family use... 500lb/ft+ from a remap 8)

Me, I would have:

E30 M3 in Focus ST Orange.
Carbon fibre bonnet, boot, front wings, doors, spoilers, skirts, bumpers. Evo3 front bumper and Evo3 rear spoiler.
Totally stripped interior, a nice cage and a flocked dash. Suede steering wheel.
2 bucket seats.
Magnesium front struts with fully adjustable suspension. Fully adjustable rear beam.
Custom coilovers.
AP 6 pots on the front, Ap 4 pots on the rear. Bias adjustable.
Smoked hellas. All Red rears. Tinted windows. Black grill.
BBS LM's in Nogaro silver.
A race bred S14, stupidly high compression, very meaty cams, head work, revving to 9k etc... Running at about 300hp.

Maybe one day I can turn that into a reality...

Key word: Maybe.

my current touring would do but with a calypso red mettalic respray, 320mm 6 pot front brake conversion, black leather front bucket seats with matching black leather baby seats, 380-400bhp cossie engine upgrade and possibly a 4wd cossie running gear conversion.
id be happy enough with that winkeye

sometimes you dont plan these things, they just happen. i was half way through my last project when wifey came along. unfortunately i then discovered that a cossie converted toyota celica coupe with a stipped interior, 2 bucket seats with 4 point harnesses, custom fuel cell inside the car with twin interior mounted fuel pumps and piping with a plumbed in fire system wasnt really family friendly as it couldnt even hold a bag of shopping due to all the gubbins in the way
cue compromise with the cossie e30 touring winkeye

 On a date when I was "newly re-single", the lass enquired if I had any kids and I said "None that I'm aware of". She wasn't impressed and shortly afterwards made excuses and left. :teehee:

For me it would have to be

A Zakspeed built spaceframe chassis with a full Carbon Fibre/Kevlar E30 Touring body "silhoutte"(3/4 scale like the old ZakspeedCapri's)
Fitted with a V10 from a M5 or M6 converted to twin turbo by Willie Koenig.
6 speed sequential gearbox and a 2 way LSD
ATL custom made large capacity fuel cell
Motec management with PI Research dash display and datalogging system with lap timing
Fully adjustable coilover suspension with remote resevoirs(adjustable for ride height/bump and both hi and low speed rebound damping)
8 Pot water cooled front calipers by AP clamping 378mm discs
4 Pot rears again by AP and 330mm or 355mm rear disks
With an adjustable bias pedal box
Obviously this would require a minimum of 19" race spec wheels similar to FIA GT's
Single Carbon/Kevlar Recaro race seat (with the option of adding another for passenger rides)
Plumbed in fire extinguishers
Air jacks
Full Goodridge fuel/brake lines
Season ticket for the ring
And permanent residence at one of the B+B's/guest houses near the ring

Surely an S70/2 would be a better engine? 'box and diff' to go with it too...

Yes but find a S70/2...

I think a S65 would also be a nice engine.
