I'm currently working on another touring project, using an E30 320i auto as a base and converting it to a 2.5 24v manual. I have fragged an E34 525i for the engine and wiring and will be using a 318iS 'box and diff.
I've removed the C101 off the M50 and soldered in the M20 C101 so that it all plugs in simply to the existing E30 loom. The problem starts with the ECU multiplug, on the E34 the ECU is mounted under the bonnet, as my car is a touring, the battery is under the bonnet and the ECU wiring is too short to pull through to the E30 ECU mounting plate. I'm looking for some advice from anyone who's extended the ECU loom to allow the ECU to be mounted under the dash. At a glance, it looks fairly straight forward, but, on closer examination, I can see what looks like a few shielded cables, (possibly for lambda probe?). Has anyone encountered these and what's the technique for extending them safely?
Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.
M20 to M50 ECU Multiplug help.

Lambda probe, cam/crank sensors and ignition coil wires are all shielded, I extended mine by using an ECU plug and length of loom cut from a breaker.
I kept all the sheilding and any earthing for it, probably wont bother with the sheilding on the next one though as its a pain in the arse...

Cheers DanThe, nice neat looking job in your pics, looks like I'll be at the breakers tomorrow in search of another multiplug with 18" of cables attached.

I did exactly what you're proposing to do.
Several of the cables can be extended inside the wiring box and slid along to give the extra 18", rather than just chopping the ECU plug off and grafting in an eighteen inch extension.
I vandalised a spare E36 M50 loom for the shielded cables

The E36 loom requires less lengthening to get the plug in the right place

Brian, how does the colourcoding on the E36 plug compare to that on the E34? Just in case I have difficulty sourcing an E34 plug.
