i have fitted a set of 17" BK171 alpina reps to my touring and have scrubbing issues!
the car is lowered 60/40 with koni adjustables on.
the wheels and tyres are a wierd mix...
Front wheels are 7.5J17 ET38 (with a 3mm spacer fitted) with 215/45/17's.
Rear wheels are 7.5J17 ET20 with 225/45/17's.
the front tyres scrub the top of the arch liner and the arch lip if i hit a bump on lock.
the rear tyres scrub the inner arches and arch lips, even though i've rolled the whole arch (even "tightened" the existing rolled part).
i know the offsets i have are wierd as the ET38 wheels won't bolt on to the front without rubbing the strut (hence 3mm spacers) and won't fit the rear without rubbing the inner arches. the ET38's really look the dogs doodaas on the rear as they really fill the arches... while hacking themselves up on them! the ET20's when on the front hack the arches to shite and when on the rear, scrub like a good 'un!!!
what offset and width are everyone elses 17's? also, what tyre sizes are people running?
i'll get some pics up in a while.....
17" scrubbing problems.

right... this is the wheels as i first fitted them. (i just put the 215's on the front and 225's on the back) offsets being very wrong!!!!! http://photobucket.com/albums/v382/gare ... F%20ET38R/
this is after i swapped around. i kept the 215's at the front and 225's at the rear but swapped the wheels only from front to back. it is like this now. rear end is phat! http://photobucket.com/albums/v382/gare ... F%20ET20R/
i'm expecting some narrower lower profile (205/40/17?) tyres will be needed and the front will probably need a prper set of hubcentric spacers made up to get a bit more offset back.
waht do you guys think?

I think you should get rid of them and get some with the correct offset.
Handling must be awful.

well, actually it's spot on. the rears feels extremely well planted now. i actually can't get the back end on the move any more unless i abuse the clutch in the process! the front actually feels fine... maybe cos i have pas... adam, did those phat euro jobbies you got a while ago mess up the handling at all?
they look damn good on the rear and i just need to make up some decent spacers for the fronts to get the correct front offset...
that said, chances are it'll be easier to flog them to the next unsuspecting fool but i have a concience!
