No my car is running properly again I sent payment to bill shurvinton for my MS1 v3 kit. should be able to start building in the next week or so which is going to be really  am looking forward to it!

I've now got an ecu that I don't mind hacking apart for the motronic connector and was thinking about building the MS in to the old motronic case. Just removing the old board, snip the connecotr pins and solder in. Will get a better idea of if things will fit when the MS kit arrives but was wondering if anybody else has looked in to doing it this way?

Basically I can then switch MS in and out easily without bastardising the loom.

can be done dude, there's a couple of M on E30Tech that have been so modded- alternative is buy a spare JPT motronic connector ( £35 ish ) and wire that up to the MS for PnP.

nice one. I'll take a look on e30tech. Biggest concern for me is that the board fits in the case.

Hoshy,

Remember to read through the "how to build a V3" instructions a few times and delete the bits you don't need, otherwise you'll end up rigging up the Hall sensor and having to redo it for the VR, amoung other things.

I've got some pics of when I built mine if it helps? Also when it's fully made up and also when I had teh mods done too.

And try not to stab yourself with a hot soldering iron, that hurts for ages

HTH, Mark.

P.s. I think Flappysocks was doing this also.

On topic again for a sec......

Hoshy, you'll struggle with an M42 175 sries ECU case due to the lower profile of it, you may have issues with heatsinking the FET's for the ign too dude.

Good idea for sure, but I think a flat sheet of alloy to suit the MSV3.00 board and the robber JPT is the way forward.

Dont forget you want the high current TiP for the ICV if you're keeping one.

Not 100% sure yet, might be a cracked block, or split HG or just it's plain worn out!

Stage 3 is in progress, low comp engine just needs paying for!

Oh well Mark. I s'pose you've got some motivation to get moving on the next stage at least :)

Ant - I hear you about the lower profile. Didn't think about that but makes sense now you mention it. I'll have a better idea of what will and won't work when the kit arrives. As I say, I've got a complete ecu (with one blown ignition driver) available for bastardisation.

I believe Bill is including a higher rated transistor for the idle control as I mentioned it's a Bosch PWM.

Do you know off hand if I can easily use the cam sensor so I'm not running wasted spark? No point in the extra load on the coils, plugs, leads if it can be avoided.

Nice one!

I'm still waiting for my map sensor to arrive before I carry on... Annoying!

And some from me....

I quite enjoyed building it up myself, never done anything like it before so am well pleased with the results.

The last pic shows the extra bits I have rigged up, wasted spark, boost control, water injection, water pump and tach out, although I don't use the tach out, left that with moronic for now.

Any Q's I'll try and help!

Thanks, Mark.

hehe - of course. i work with work with windows so I need some linux based absolution at home :)

Yeah - I'm gonna run wasted spark. got 4 drivers and will drive the iS coils independently. When it's up and running I'll make use of the m42s cam sensor to avoid running the wasted spark but it's fine to start with.

Mark - awesome pics. I especially love the nail clippers and stick man :)

Interesting to see how the wiring might work for the Spark stuff too. I'll need to get my tach output running as I'm planning a complete plug-in replacement for the motronic. That's the theory at least :)
