How hard to fit is a e36 2.5, into an e30 2.5?

As above really guys, my m20 2.5 is on the verge of giving out (oil in water-lots).
Ive been offered a 2.5 engine and 'box from an e36, was just wondering whats involved in the swap? Has anyone done this on here?
Assume i'll need parts of the loom/ecu etc?
Not even sure if its the same basic block?
Any help would be great, thanks for your time
