ive been asked by shorty about a 3litre oil catch tank for his car, the race series states a min 3 litre capacity.
i have designed one that fits in the battery tray and is 3.5litre. i can provide with it the fitting kit that comes with the other ones and will also do them at the same price (£94inc vat) if any racers are interested. also 10%discount for zone members.

Picked this up today and it looks superb. Fitted in about 30 mins and is actually smaller than it sounds. I've been asked to take some photos so I will post them here as well. Top quality stuff.

when we normally move the battery we often use these distrubtor blocks often used for ice set ups. any good car stero place should sell them, its like a large terminal that you can plug the wires into. or you could run the main battery live straight off the main starter terminal. there are several different ways. hope this helps.

Or find a breaker with it in and rob the BMW kit

Think all 325 sports had it, not sure what else

Rather than sit here wondering, please explain what are the real advantages of one of these as I'm still learning the spanner stuff :D

Anyone else wondering??? Oh great I'm the only dumb ass

There is no real advantage in the sense of an increase in power or anything. For a race car they are mandatory and are for if the engine decide to releive itself of a little pressure it doesn't spew it onto the floor/track.

Usually the breather off the rocker cover feeds back into the airbox and just consumes the oily vapour and thats ok for a daily driven car but for something revving it's spuds off all the time then that oily vapour isn't going to do the intake much good. That's why you direct it into a catch tank and empty when required. Hope that makes sense. Or google it!!

If you find that you are getting oily fumes when the car is parked(with the engine running) then run an out let pipe along the bulkhead and down to the under side of the footwell.

Where the out let is now is not too far from the scuttle inlet for the heater fans.

Not getting a problem with any fumes. The heater doesn't exsist and the inlet is blocked. Was talking about the vapour created when the engine is running flat out so wouldn't have a problem with any fumes then.

Don't see the point in running back to the inlet if I've got a catch tank. Defeats the object really. Rather any oil/air was seperated rather than going back into the inlet.

does it effect driveability in any way? how would you notice it? and will it make fuel economy better due to better burn in the engine?

Not noticed any effect in driveability and to be honest you have one on a race car because your made to in the regs. If it's just for show then it's a waste of money.

If your not filling your manifold with oil then you don't need it.

Fuel economy is not really an issue with a race car.
