might sound like an odd question but what is a rough size and weight of a built up m30 3.5?

The M30 engine is usually quoted at somewhere around 205kg, but I'm not sure how 'fully dressed' that is, so could be a little bit more.
I can measure up the engine in my garage tomorrow if you like?
Out of interest, why do you wish to know the measurements?

if you could just the lenght from the back of the cam cover to the front pulley and width at the widest point.
for an engine swap into another car, i've know more about m30 than i do with the series of engines that run in the cars make and i want something with torque and skope for more power with a turbo i've got. that and there fairly cheap to buy as a whole car so i have every thing i need.

Sorry for the delay! I've been rushing around like a rushing around thing!
The length of the engine is 80cm, or about 2cm less if you trim off the air con belt section of the crank pulley
The width (as the engine is slanted so looking from above in the car) from exhaust manifold to the side of the inlet manifold is 55cm.
I hope that helps!

why not just keep it in the big 5? i like the idea of a stripped out 535i thats really low!
i watched a great video of a turbo'd 5 series and it was a monster!!!
what are your options for the m30 to drop into?

well its an old super touring,as well a certain 24hour race, rival not ford before you say that, not sure on a m30 or m50, idea is to fit it to the car i have along with the gearbox which cuts out a big problem( weak gearbox) once everything is rite i've got a turbo and a intercooler ready to fit and some lowish boost for 300+ with no weakness to wurry about.
