ok i have been having thoughts recently regarding my sport....... now ive been longing after a tourer in b;ack or white.... for a while cos of the weight distribution advantage and general driftiness..... what im thinking is stick a stock 25 lump in the sport and sell her as she is, keeping only my lump and management, all susopension will remain on the sport! then i will sell the sport as a stock sport with suspension mods. i will then buy a mint tourer shell and put my lump in that....and voila hero chariot!!!!!! myself and dave and any other tourers will have ourself a tourer drift collective!!! who thinks i should do this and who thinks i hould leave it as it is. i plan on moving the lump back an inch or 2 in the tourer for supremem weight distribution, this is not a problem, as i will have had practise from the project with regards to bulkhead stuff....... at the end of the day i will have created a lovely car and still have money left over....... so do i do it???????

dont wanna go jap........ sport drifts good...... but not so good in 3rd gear drifting above 80mph, this is where a tourer would be better i think....

How about lighteneing the front of the sport?
Ie lighter panels (i can point you in the right direction for them....)
and maybe alu control arms?
All that costs a bit though...
or
Why not just put some ballast/sand/wieght of some sort in the rear bumper.....

it would be rude not to mate.
think, better body work than you have now
even more of a sleeper than the GUG
and cheap as chips
plus, its something different, and change is good.
plus its better than jap.
oh and i thought that it was only the e36 compact that had the 50/50 balence, not the saloon/coupe. and they also had e30 rear suspension

It will also be different to the m5/e30 being an tourer, if you know what i mean. Not having two saloons...

i say go for it. it will be another project, that will keep you busy. plus you will have two saloons if you dont, and whats the point. If your not bothered about sport or not then do it. A black mtech kitted tourer will be the danglies, and that 2.7 in there would kill.
end of the day its up to you. if your happy doing it then go for it. plus you will be doing the work yourself so should be cheap as chips.
Its good to be different.

if you're after one with a knacked camshaft follower, two rear wheel bearings and no carpet due to the previous owner knifing it out having not attributed the water leak to an open rear window and paint that looks like someone has had a go at using a brillo pad then be my guest mate!

Karan,
I have a 1991 J reg 325 Tourer in black on 155k. Bodywork is pretty much sound, beige leather in above average condition, air con (not working due to a snapped belt), electrics all round. Have a 3.64 LSD, OBC, and Alpina replica exhaust all still waiting to be fitted. BBS's are near mint.
It has had some problems with the cntral locking recently and is starting to lose its appeal due to just a few nigly things. Money is tight and I'm contemplating selling. Just needs some TLC from someone with the time and knowledge.
If you're interested then let me know and we can have a chat.....although the price will have to be right for me to let her go.

The fact the thought has even enterd ya head means its time for a
change! If ya dont then every time you see a mint tourer then ya gonna
have the hump cause right at that moment you could be opening a can of
whoop ass on him! My mate has just picked up an absoulutely mint 325i
tourer that ewas sat in a feild for over a year for Ԛ£650 all it needed for
the mot was 2 rear tyres and it need a new lower front valance!!
Point is tourers are cheap???
You could end up with a fiar bit of wedge in ya pocket!!
Big smile on ya face!!
Ignor front wing it still has polish on it! but Ԛ£650 and its SOLID!!

Another good reason to go for a tourer is that they don't seem to rust anywhere near as bad as the saloon, don't see many with rusty scuttle's and rear arches, they only seem to suffer on the rear tailgate, also they are less likely to have been abused than a saloon!

Was originally planning a 3.2, but I think that from a cost perspective, a 2.7 or an M30 would be better. Whatever the decision, it will be better than the asthmatic 2.0!Andy335Touring wrote:Which engine ?Simon wrote:Deffo go for the touring! Dont do it Karan!!!! because...
Karan=GUG, GUG=Karan!! you and the car are as one
you have a lovely sport with plenty of oomph, and a reputation as a drift chariot
speaking as a touring owner, i'd say keep the sport-all the work is done and it works (ok apart from the gearbox
)
save your pennies and buy an m3

Up to you mate,
No-one can tell you what to do, just give you ideas.......
Touring would be cool, but I reckon you'd be gutted loosing the sport. But fcuk it, you're only young and as mentioned above...variety is the spice of life.
