As already stated, the type of guard I have requires special tooling as they are a pressed piece, if your guard doesn't have the 'corrugations' like mine then you will not have the strength. Unless you up the material to say 5mm and then reinforce from the top side, but then its going to weigh over 20kg and will quite literally outweigh the benefits
What if you just made up one like Ste's but not with flat bars with a slight corrugate.
I was thinking a few lenghts of thin angle iron with the corner facing downwards. Then some flat bars welded along across the top. with the same type of mounting and front reinforing bar as this one.
I might try draw a pic tomore of what I'm rambling on about, lol

The U tube and chassis brackets should be relatively easy to get fabbed up.
An alternative is could be to use 5/6mm dural with a single bend at the front bolted onto localised strengthening on the u tube.
Usages
Aerospace and Defence industries
Architectural
Signage
Electronics
Medical
Prototype work
Ramdom stranger admiring your E30: "Blimmey, that's a heavy duty looking guard!!!"

Looking back at the thread it seems most of the "dribble" (drivel?) seems to be coming from YOU!agreen wrote:i just ordered one because no one else was gonna do anything and could not look at 5 pages of dribble about maybes and well i might bull any more
The thread didnt get anywhere due to reasons explained MORE THAN ONCE
It pisses me off how a thread starts off well and gathers some really useful information only to be messed up by carlsberg swilling illiterate idiots like yourself with nothing better to do than whinge and moan about anything and everything.
If you dont like looking at pages and pages of your own crap then dont f*cking post it up as I can assure you, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!
