Hi,
any tips on how to remove the exhaust manifold without sheering the studs in the cyl head?

Thanks Matt.

Lots of WD40 for several days, a thread cleaning die on any exposed thread, great care, possibly a blowlamp with a pencil flame, and a nut splitter for any that still won't co-operate.

Take the car for a long run so the engine is fcuking hot, this may sound dangerous from the hands burning point of view but you'll only burn yourself twice before you learn. The heat through the whole lot is the trick as the ali of the head will expand slightly more than the steel studs. I did this and two still dropped off when I put the socket on, I think some one had had a go at undoing thm and given up once they realised they were not going to come undone.

Good luck, if your gasket is blowing like mine was it'll be worth it.
