annoying noise

I have this little noise thats doin my head right in ,it sounds like im dragging a little peice of metal and its tinkering as i drive along i think its coming from passenger rear and the garage think its the passenger front i have looked underneath the passenger side and cant see anything the exhaust is blowing where the metal strap holds it but the noise comes and goes gonna replace exhaust anyway but if anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated thanks

Check the brakes for a stuck pebble or something (especially the metal backing plate).

Check that the brake pad anti rattle spings are where they should be too.

Could be lots of things really...

I remember an uncle of mine way back in the distant past saying that a 'tinkling noise' is usually propshaft universal joints Just one of those things that have stuck in my mind.. Might be worth putting on your check list. Could be a lot of things as has already been said. Does it make the noise when you freewheel with engine off?

hmm that would explain my tinkling noise and drivetrain vibration.....damn drifting kills these cars doesnt it

i had a strange noise on the back n/s of mine turned out to be be the heat shield that sits above the back box it is held on by plastic nuts and when water rusts the thread the nuts drop of and the heatshield comes into contact with the back box causing it to rattle

I will have a look at these things everyone has suggested got a new problem now cam belt snapped so have to wait to get it back from garage to sort that stupid noise out thanks for your help
