The paint on my car's pretty much mint, apart from a couple of bits on the bonnet... there's a li'l bit of rust / bubbling around one of the washer jets, and two cracks (about an inch long each) along the centre ridges.

Can they be fixed dya reckon? Or is it a case of having to get the whole bonnet sprayed? :? & any ideas on cost either way?

Cheers :thumb:

Id imagine the whole bonnet would have to be painted as red is always a nightmare to patch in as it tends to be one of the worst fading colours, its not always obvious until you put newpaint onto it. 8O

True... :?

It's really not faded though - been resprayed fairly recently I'd guess...

In my experience the Dings & Dents boys push out the dents only then there's the ScratchMaster guys who do sprayless scratch repairs. Neither will usually touch rust. A good bodyspray shop will probably patch it up well enough but the colour difference tends to show up after a while unless you polish it every week. With the amount of little bits needed it will probably be best to get the whole bonnet done and keep it mint. The bonnet is probably the most important part of a car's 'look'.
Only a point of view!

Yeah (sorry if im repeating), mine had a few dents in it and i basically decided to get the whole thing repaired and resprayed. The thing that bumped up the Ԛ£ was the fact i had the wings blended so the colour matched a bit better :(

if the dents ar all pretty close to the middle a decent body shop should
use clear over base! they should only paint colour on the area's which
need it then blen it out to the egde the the whole lot is laquerd so you
shouldnt see any miss match! this is a little more expensive and i would
of though a good price would be Ԛ£150 - Ԛ£200 for the whole bonnet!!

The other alternative is get them to blend the wings as well but lot mor
money for a good body shop you should be looking at around an average
of Ԛ£100 -Ԛ£150 a panel??

As long as both wings are the same colour a good body shop should be
able to match the coulour pretty good even using a solid paint(no laquer)
whic will probably be Ԛ£100 - Ԛ£150

They will give the rest of the car a good mop which should brighten up
any old paint any way!!

Yes red and white traditionaly are the worst colous to match but they can
be done very well nowadays! you onlt realy notice a majour differnce
under orange street lamps at there worst!!

& thanks for the advice guys! Looks like I'll keep looking for a replacement bonnet til I can afford to get it done properly. :(

Might even have a go myself actually - If I prep it well & I can't get it to match, it'll still be less for a bodyshop to do!

Have a go yourself mate, but if your going to go that route get a spare bonnet and do all the work on that one, so that you're working on one without rust and you can use the car at the same time. And then if you can't get it to match get a body shop to stick a base coat on then buff and laquer it your self, it's the donky work which bumps up the price when painting.
