You get the alloy disc all drilled and tapped, but not the bolts.

My article was also written based on my car. I didn't realise at the time that the spacer tubes and the bolts are only present if your existing steering rubber doughnut has been replaced (mine had been). On a virgin coupling, it's all riveted together, so the bolts are not present, and the rubber doughnut does not have the spacer tubes fitted.

You can get the bolts from the dealer (they need to be the correct shouldered bolts, and the thread needs extending down to the start of the shoulder) on their own, but the spacer tubes are only supplied with a replacement rubber doughnut. You do however get 4 spacer tubes in a new doughnut, so you will be able to go 50/50 with someone else doing the conversion. The doughnut is not expensive though, and they are available from ECP & GSF.

True, but its very convenient.

I think I saw some polyeurathane replacement bushes on the net, somewhere on this page:

http://www.muzzimotorsport.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=33

Will these work eith the spacers do you think Ian or am I guessing wrong from the pictures? I emailed the guy about the disk adaptors and he was very helpful.

Jai,

They are still at the Engineering place being made. There was a bit of a delay, as they had run out of suitable material, but this is sorted now.

I spoke to them last week, and they have machined all the spacers, and just need to drill & tap the holes. I'd like to think they will be done this week, but no guarantees :D

Is there any chance of getting in on this? Turns out i had an e46 lower coupling and so my spacer has the holes spaced wrong also now..

J,

the one there is a billet CNC'ed alluminium bush, not urethene. I have one on my e30 on a standard coupling. After deliberation a while ago with dan and ian i think we concluded that the muzzi bush will not fit in an e36 coupling.

How do you find the ali bush Dan?

Also how do you remove the old rubber one?

Do they do one for an e36? If so that'd be the one to use..

I dont think they do them for an e36 but turbo-brown knocked up one for his on a lathe so im sure he could sort you boys out. Having said that, Roger at Muzzi was extremely helpful so it might be worth giving him a shout.

Removing the rubber bush was one of the worsh things i have ever done. I used a hacksaw but the original rivets are extremely tough. Eventually got through them and just used pliers etc to prize the rubber out; cleaned up the guibo and used the new bolts as mentioned by ian up there to secure the new bush in.

I found the wheel had less play in it and the steering was a lot more responsive; it generally feels 'tighter' with less play in it if that makes sense?

I'm not sure what the final numbers were for this group buy, but I'm pretty sure we have more than required, so you should be okay for one of this batch 8)

No need to buy a replacement rubber coupling, as the E36 one is a nice solid rubber affair. You should have all the required spacer tubes and bolts from your E46 coupling.

Yep we've had an extra 10 made - so if anyone else wants one let us* know.

*Us as in Ian or me. We've gone into this together now. It works out easier as I have to work in London whereas Ian dosses about at home all day** and can go and see the machine shop. :D

Hi,

Do you have any of these spacers left ?
Is the E36 rack bolt spacing on this spacer/adapter the same as for a Z3 rack .... ie, does the same spacer do for both racks ?

Does Ian have any of the modified hydraulic hoses available ?

I'm afraid it's not something I've done for a long time, and due to a recent job/career change, I'm not likely to be doing any more. Sorry.
