Cam removal - M20

How do you remove the cam on an m20 lump?
Got cable ties? Get diffin..

Need to take all the rockers off fo that one I think.

That or you might be able disengage the rockers from their valves having taken the clips off but it might take a bit more cajoling to get out then even if it is possible.

Probably not actually, but you would have to tilt the engine back a bit or I don't think the cam or rocker shafts will come out as the rad etc. are in the way :(

engine is out the car atm..

so what would need replacing then if you swapped the cam?

It is possible to remove the cam with the head still on the block but it's so much more work than just taking the head off.

I fitted a new cam to the 2.7 when I built it and also fitted new rockers/shafts/clips and adjusting discs but that was really expensive, the rockers are about Ԛ£160 a set but the clips are about Ԛ£12 a set and shafts about Ԛ£30 the pair.

Its up to you how far you want to go and depends how worn the old bits are.

well i dont really wanna be changin headgasket n stuff - it was gonna be on the cheap as i just want a bit more pep for the summer before i drop summat else in
