i have to run a live for the amp but i dont know the best way into the car with the minimum of damage or fussin about

also where is a nice easy earthing point in the back? im putting in a 1000w amp, with a 600w 15" tube and a set of 180w components that i have already put in but have no oomph .. plus the standard gear but i wont be adding them into the system

getting the gear tomorow, cheap and cheerful

Run the wires straight down the middle of the car.
under the back seat under the center console. It's a lot easier than removing the door trims/ kick panel/carpet/ door pillar covers etc.

On a RHD car with the battery under the bonnet there is a big grommet next to the battery.

I ran my +ve supply through this and down the drivers side into the boot.

I ran the RCA signal cables down the other side of the car. It's best to keep the power and audio signal leads apart. It's worth the extra effort.

All the wires can be tucked away neatly using the BMW tie downs for the existing loom. It wont look like theres a dead snake under the carpet either.

i am still trying to feed the live cable into the bulkhead...

iԚ´ve found the rubber gromet next to the battery (in the bonnet end) but it doesnt look like it wants to go through there :x

is there any other "easy" accsess points to get the cable through? got it all here staring at me :(

You might be able to get it through if you're careful and use a little bit of lubrication,it should slide through with a gentle bit of pressure.

I ran my supply cable through that grommet in the bulkhead, I pierced it and then opened the hole up with a couple of screw drivers.

Plenty of lubrication is the key to success -

It was a bit of a mission and took me about 10 minutes

you can feed it threw passenger side too. there is already some wires running thre a hole on that side and there is enough space for 1 more. it will come the just behind the glovebox.

 yea lol, first time i noticed it i went " 8O faaack me"

its loud, thas all i can say. but its not as loud as my mates. the one i have is a 15 " 600w ported sub tube. my mate has a fosgate 12" enclosed sub box and it made my eyebrows twitch when we ran it off the amp

so thats on the list of blags to pull "get mateys sub"

I seriously rate Rockford stuff, very good quality indeed.

Sealed subs give the best sound quality but less volume than ported subs for a given power rating, for all out volume and really deep bass I've founf band pass enclosures to really make things move. I had a metro turbo about 1993 that I fitted a band pass sub in and it was totally OTT but great fun.

I've gone for clarity with my latest install as I spend lots of time driving my car, still makes everything shake though - I might post a video of the rear view mirror doing its thing.

 i may do that too :D

but true, the rockford is too powerfull, it really was a bit to much at one point, stomach was empty as well :?

i agree on the whole clarity thing though. after about 2 hours of brain numming incoherant bellows, including the intermittant news reports in pure sub. couldnt understand a thingand almost every tune sounded the same :?

luckily i had a set of component misd and tweeters i put in up front so with a bit of ballancing i can get a reasonable sound. needs a bit of cleaning up though :D

I'e set my system up so that the bass & treble are set flat at 0, I've cut any frequencies below 100hz from going to the main speakers and sent only freqencies below 100hz to the sub.

Having said all that, the way a hifi sounds is a very personal thing, just as well these stereos have loads of adjustments, it's more to mess about with.

I hate it when my mates mess about with the levels, they always whack the treble up too high and wind on a shed load of bass...
