just purchased a couple of second hand Corbeau GT seats for my track car project but the subframes are no good, question is - do I need to buy specific E30/Corbeau subframes (which seem expensive) or would I be able to purcahse a couple of front seats from the scrappies and get the seats to fit the original seat frames?

Or, has anyone purchased any of the frames off Ebay and found these to be any good?

Thanks,

.
I have just fitted Corbeau Forza sport seats to my E30 track car using the Corbeau E30 specific sliding subframes..

It is worth noting that if you are going to use the car for trackdays, the headroom is very limited once you have a helmet on, even less if your car has a sunroof. Even on their lowest setting, the seats sit higher than the M-tec seats ever did. Which is more than a little disappointing..

I contacted Corbeau and they recommended that I try the fixed subframe option which may introduce some additional headroom.

I would also like to know if anyone has used the original BMW seat frames with aftermarket seats??

Ive got Sparco Monte Carlo seats fixed to normal runners and then fixed to steel section bars to the mounting points in the floor, ill take a pic as soon as i get chance. It gets around the problem you brought up about limited headroom.

I've got one Corbeau seat which I mounted on an E30 specific subframe from Demon Tweeks. Still had to drill it to fit tho! I found that the seat was too wide for my liking and that I sat quite high. I have therefore relegated it to the passenger seat and have since purchased a Sparco sprint seat which is much tighter. This time, instead of wasting £50 on a crap (heavy ) subframe I fabricated one out of some steel shelving brackets! Fits a treat and sit nice and low.

I had a problem with mine. I bought some Corbeau Forzas unused from a friend who had an unfinished project. I then went about trying to get some seat frames to suit the E30 from Corbeau. The problem is that they only supply seat subframes for any of their seats when you buy the seat. If you try and buy the subframes seperately, as I was trying to do, the price doubles and this will also be the case if you try and do it through a distributer. (Original price for E30 Subframes to suit Corbeau Forzas £105 for pair for non-tilting).

In the end I managed to negociate a slightly inflated price £30 extra but had to demostrate that the seats were new and unused.

All side mount seats use a standard side mount bolt spacing.

I used £30 Sparco side mounts to fit mine. It's an absolute piece of p**s fitting side mount seats to an E30 as the floor is flat and the 4 holes are in exactly the correct place.

Here's the cheapest I found them: http://peterlloydrallying.co.uk/product ... 904808de1c

Edited to say: With those mounts you can literally sit the seat on the floor. 8)

Jimmy,
Mine were base mounting but they will have to come out for PBMW but will do for the track days beforehand. :D
