Most desirable diff for most e30 owners. Get it quick and don't tell anyone where you saw it :D

To be honest... no! Well not 'til you've tried it anyway... Otherwise a cheap diff just becomes an expensive one!

Just fit it to see if its noisy,if its not just put some fresh LSD oil in it from the dealer.

I think some one said they are about 300 quid to refurb depending what needs doing ?

Agreed, they're very reliable/robust diffs when used with standard powerplants.

 Ԛ£100 - Ԛ£120 labour for a full strip/rebuild/LSD set-up.

Is that plus parts ?

I've got a noisey 3.25LSD from an M3 that could do with fixing at some point.

Yes mate, it's Ԛ£100 - Ԛ£120 for the labour charge. It's around 3 - 4 hours work for a complete strip down and rebuild.

The replacement oil is nearly as expensive as new bearings.

I have done, and I'm not a wizard with the spanners. It's not as difficult as many think.

The rally car workshop usually build mine now, mega experienced competition gearbox/diff guru. I've had so many PMs and emails from various sources about rebuilding LSDs, that I asked at the workshop for a fixed price rebuild service. Ԛ£100 - Ԛ£120 is the price and they're 5hit hot. (They're nothing to do with me financially/commercially, rallying is my hobby only.)

Any good quality fully synthetic LSD specific oil is ok for these diffs, they're excellent ZF LSD units, as used in many non-BMW applications. (Ford Capri, Opel Manta etc.)

Personally, for a standard road car I'd be tempted to use a cheaper LSD oil. (I was using Castrol B373 oil with these LSD units in rally cars 20 years ago, without problems)
