The North East Region of the BMW Car Club invites you to come along with us to the historic City of York on Sunday, 4th November 2007.
Our base for the day is at The National Railway Museum where we will have our own parking area somewhere near the York Wheel. The NRM is a free attraction and is only a short walk away from the city centre.
http://www.nrm.org.uk/home/home.asp
If any of you would like to visit any of the chargable attractons such as the York Wheel, Yorvik, Dungeons, Castle Museum etc. you may take advantage of the concessions we can get as a group.
Please reply to the topic if you are interested in coming.
Thanks for reading,
Nick

Dont know times yet,
we will have use of our reserved car parking all day so we can come and go as we please which makes life a lot easier.
The NRM is a free attraction but there is normally a parking charge of £7.. but I am going to work on that one and see if they will bring it down for us.
They don't mind if we leave the cars there while we head off into town and that.

Here is an e-mail from the NRM for you all to read.
I will need a list of who is coming, but that can be done nearer the date.. I don't want to save any 'empty' spaces.
Nick
Hi Nick
Good to speak to you. Just to confirm the date as Sunday 4 Nov and that the spaces (nos to be confirmed) on our main car park will be reserved for you from 10.00 to 18.00. Spaces will be coned off and our car park attendant made aware to hold the spaces up to 14.00. The museum opens at 10.00 although the car park will be available for you from 9.00 if needed.
Please could you let all drivers know that the machine at the barrier requires £7 in coins. There is a change machine in our lower lobby at the Entrance next to the car park or a token can be purchased at our reception desk.
The last ticket sale for The Yorkshire Wheel is 17.30. Ticket prices are adults £6, children £4. We can offer 50p per person discount on 20 or more people.
Would you email me your contact phone number just incase we need to contact you.
Don't hesitate to call if you need any further assistance.
Regards
Claire

As I've recently swapped from my Fiat Coupe to something a little more reliable (fingers crossed) I'm game for pitching up in the new touring. Gives me enough time to clean up the E30 and as York is spitting distance from Harrogate it would be rude not to.

welcome to the zone fella

you wish
Cheers for the welcome gents. I've gone from a five 5 to a 6 pot and I'm lovin' going through tunnels. I'll probably be floating around on the forums soaking up the information here more than chipping in with suggestions.
Mind you if you ever feel the need to own a Fiat Coupe, I've had a bit of experience with them so I can help with any questions! It was the gearbox that went on mine and with the cost of replacing the box, clutch and cambelt nearing silly money, it was time to move on. Gonna miss the silly speeds but have already been the discovering the joys of rear wheel drive, just waiting for it to rain in North Yorkshire so I can go side ways!

Guys,
we are planning on arriving at the NRM at around 11am.. doing the museum and then weather permitting strolling into town to find a nice pub lunch and maybe a go on the York Wheel before we depart.
Our parking area should be easy to find as it is will be coned off and there will be an attendant on duty
If any of you want to meet up first and drive to York together we will be setting off from the MacDonalds/services just off J36 M62 (Goole) at 10am sharp.

Thanks to all that came with us today. It was nice to see a few new faces as well.
Its a shame we all got broken up, the girls dragged me off to the shops and some of you had gone when we got back for the ride on the wheel.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
