Is an E30 retro enough for minilites?

OK this looks really dodgy because of the rough/ amateur paint effort on my behalf, but I think E30 smoothed out with no side strips or bumpers! dropped as low as possible on some nice deep dish minilites could work, just don't know if I would be brave enough to spend my hard earned proving a point!
don't know if this link or photo will work either....

Mikey - that's totally the look I was going for, now get rid of the chrome, side rubbing strips and bumpers and I reckon it would be a retro flyer, albeit a low flyer!

I can just picture this with a Confederates flag painted on the roof and 01 on the doors.
Not loving the Minilites idea i'm afraid.

Jhonno, I think it can work too, it was just a daft thought I had after looking at a 2002 with them on (cover page of Retro Cars a couple of months back)
I think the car would have to lose the bumpers and and side strips etc so the bodywork is totally clean and smoothed, plus no chrome around the windows, absolutely slammed - call it E30retrotracklook ??
By the way, is the car in your sig a 320is?

I like the look of the minilites but only on the not so low photo.....I quite like the idea of having ronal turbos on a low chrome bumper e30...THink thatd look quite good.
