Thanks Ant but i've got one a bit more local! Done a bit more today of any real value but getting the engine out at last...

I'm waiting on a couple of painters i've been to see to come out and quote, i've actually been and spoke to some!

Nice engine mount eh?

So the old M20 2.7 slugger/torquemiester/makes funny noises also, is out out at last. Didn't go entirely well this time as you can see from the angle of it hanging on the crane!

I found some gorilla strength and managed to life the engine/gearbox up level and my neighbour pushed the car away! No damage to the car getting it out which was the main objective in this! It's nice and easy to move the car about on your own now too, so i've put in the other way round in the garage for a change of view everytime i go out there!

I'm looking for a place to make some front legs, filler pipe, cross members etc all nice and shiney black again if anyone knows?! i've asked in E30 chat but no luck really apart from a place next to birds workshop uxbridge so far. So anyone?

Stuff the 2.7 in the Beetle for safe keeping. Once saw one with an all-iron Zephyr straight six hanging out the back, dangling off an adaptor plate to the transaxle - the handling must have been lethal!

nope it's is going to be a marathon effort to get this puppy back on the road stu, you should know this!

Theres more bits and bobs to a car than meets the eye, little and often is the best approach so you don't get utterly p!ssed off with it and the thought of much work there is left to do!

It's staying black yes, guy came round today and had a good look. So just waiting for the price now, i've kinda set a date for when i'd like it finished now so i might really get stuck into it now. Could be painted and alot of the car back together by Christmas. I shall how it goes though

i like seeing new bits, especially when they are genuine parts, so many people settle for second best. im going to order two wings and a bonnet and a lower valance but thats for another thread. keep up the good work!
