looking for used race slicks. i am down to the metal on the shoulder of one of mine and suspect the other 3 are not far off being useless. problem is once you have used slicks nothing else will do as they are sooooo much better. i dont want to pay full price for new ones as they are silly money. any ideas welcomed (including other tyre ideas - dont suggest R888s as i have got some and they are poles apart from slicks !!!). i am on 15" wheels. any help appreciated as these are really like rocking horse sh*t !!!

Ebay?
I know it's not exactly what you want, but there's a regular seller on there with 17's - maybe look at getting bigger wheels. You can fit bigger brakes then, too :)

not sure abou these as they are technically a tarmac rally tyre. are they up to the huge forces going through them repeatedly lap after lap. ?? i am happy to listen to anyones experience of them - not sure if they will match up to the dunlop slicks i have on now, but they are much cheaper so maybe a sensible compromise ??

I've bought Maxsport RB5 (similar to Colways) 205 - 55 - 15. Edge profile too high, not impressed really, GOODYEAR f1 195 -50 - 15 are better and less £Â£Ã‚£Ã‚£

Love to try slicks on the 325 mmmmmmm

Slicks on the 325 are soooooooo good.
I have rally suspension and the car sits too high so it lifts the inside wheel all the way around the high speed sweepers on the full Silverstone GP track ..... you're not aware of it until you feel it hit the deck again .... the wheel has slowed down so does a little squeal as it gets back up to speed !
The grip is quite astonishing but also led to a bit of oil surge ..... oooops !

Am doing Cadwell Park on Wednesday this week and can't wait to see what effect my new BTB 6 branch has. I'm kinda expecting the engine to be more willing to rev but am hoping that it will give better response and driveability too ? Hopefully it will climb on the next gear a bit better ?

i have used colway f2's and they are ok, the only thing being is they are a soft compound slick.

they were designed for Formula 2's and can withstand lap after lap. - for 1 race.

I can get 2nd hand slicks as used in the BTCC through Rick Kerry @ AFM racing in Ipswich.

He's always got a few sets about and they go for about £200/250 a set of 4. I've no idea what sizes he uses as I've never been to see them.

I've not bought any, yet winkeye but can pass on details if required.

HTH, Mark.

Hi clive use kuhmo slicks there very good. They make sizes from 15s that your looking for all the way to 17s and youll be able to buy them brand new as there very resonably priced.

but your best option is to run the thing like martin did on BTCC used slicks

I have 5 15" slicks that you can have for £100 if you collect from between Junc 14 & 15 of the M6 mate. PM me (zonemotorsport) on www.bmwtrackzone.com if you want them.

lol.. yeah they look a lot worse than they actually are! They're sat in a bodyshop in the corner and should have been covered up but the cover was taken off and they've gained a lot of filler/spray dust on them making them look pretty rough! The thing to spot is the wear indicator holes (dents..dimples whatever you want to call them!) which shows how much is left on them. They are actually ex- Clio cup tyres. The top one is the oldest of the lot (can hardly see the dimples).

thanks for all your replies. been away on hols hence the reason i have not got back to you..comments...
1) R888 - got some ...they go off too quick and sidewalls not stiff enough
2) BTCC use 17 and 18 inch wheels
3) M3GTR - might be interested but the pics make the tryes look like they are flat spotted ?? is that just a crap pic ??

thanks

It's not the best pic granted but they have been off rims for a while so might inflate to be ok. I bought them as is. To be honest mate, I need rid as I can't use them on the new car as I'm on 17s, so make me an offer if you want them.
