engine no and capacity i think is all they need to know

im pretty sure you can still mot her now even without the changes being made to the logbook

just tell the tester the engine size and he will put it in as 2500

for the DVLA, you need to fill out the new capacity and engine numbers on your V5, post it to the DVLA and they'll update it. it's a pretty quick turnaround too

i don't know if the MOT place would give you a MOT as-is... worth a stab i guess. if they won't, the V5 should be back in time for the retest.

technically, as far as the DVLA are concerned, the car will always be a 318is. my 335i is a 3430cc 325i on the logbook. the '318is' is simply a name as far as they're concerned.

it might be a pretty quick turnaround but they'll probably bugger it up the first time and send it back with the capacity at 25 litres or something. they are useless tw*ts at the best of times :x

as for the MOT, I think they'll do it without the V5 alterations. if they raise an eyebrow tell them you've sent the V5 off to amend the engine number and not had it back and you need to use the car asap...

i would go for what Toby says......its what i will be doing.

i have not got a good insurane quote yet so i have to keep it this way for now.

once i get time to sit down and look for a few hours as my recent searches have been bad.

good luck with the MOT its always a scarey day / 2 weeks

My 318i touring passed its MOT (computerised one) with the 325i engine fitted. As far as the DVLA are concerned its still 1800cc and thats what it says on the V5.
The MOT guy didnt check any engine numbers, I just told him it was 2500cc and thats what he tested it as.

I havnt sent my V5 off to be altered and my car has gone through 2 MOT's no problem. The tester seemed more concerned as to why id renewed most of the bolts/parts under the car than to the multivalve engine lurking in the bay

We then got talking and he forgot to charge me :woohoo:
