Refit from front to back with braided hoses, that way you can cable tie them to the existing metal lines and not have to remove the rear subby :D

You can get braided hose complete kits for under Ԛ£50,and fit the whole lot in about half an hour including a coffee and fag break :D :D :D

I think he's talking about the hard lines Rog.

If this is the case then pay a garage to do the job, it's seriously a b!tch and I wouldn't even attempt it. This is coming from someone who refuses to let a garage do anything on his car!!

Braided hoses don't replace the hard lines though, they just replace your current flexi lines.

No matey, you can replace the whole shooting match with braided, this is what I did on last 325,I measured the main front to back line, and all the four corners,I then phoned a company that makes them up to your requirements and about 2 days later they arrived on the doorstep, all the connectors and unions etc fitted up,all i had to do was fit it to the car,was a doddle, and TBH the brakes firmed up nicely too.
And it cost me Ԛ£47 pound something :D

Now that sounds like the best way to go about it. The hard lines are a definate design flaw on the E30 and replacing the whole lot with flexi hose sounds like a much easier way of doing it.

Praise the lord 8)

Definatly a design flaw,I mean, what were they think of :hammer:

The only thing i would suggest when using cable ties to connect the braids to the hard lines is to put 1 tie every six inches to keep everything solid.

Ps I've also checked with the MOT man about using cable ties and it's perfectly acceptable :D :D

Good luck Sparkie

You don't need to remove the subframe to replace the brake lines, but you do need to remove the petrol tank.
I've done a few of these, and replace the two flexis from the body to the trailing arms, the two metal lines to each rear corner, and just the rear part of the front to back line from just in front of the fuel tank backwards.
I make up my own metal lines, using "Kunifer" copper/ nickel? alloy pipe. Total cost of the metal pie and ends is less than Ԛ£2 per car.
By the time the brake lines are rusty, the petrol tank is probably in need of some rust treatment around the filler flange anyway.
