hi iam wanting to do the m0 conversion and have spent two months looking for the doner car ive been only looking for a 535i manual.
I am growing ever more in patient about not finding one.
so the question is am i being to picky and start looking at autos or 735i if so what otheritems would i need to gain the same parts as i would of the 535i manual.
From searching on this site and reading many m30 threads ive found that i will also need.
535i oil pan and pickup
a manual box
is this all and how easy are these parts to source and any rough prices
all help appreciated
cheers[/b]

Using an auto would mean you'd need to find a gearbox, flywheel and clutch... you can use the auto loom and maybe even the ECU..beefy wrote:hi iam wanting to do the m0 conversion and have spent two months looking for the doner car ive been only looking for a 535i manual.

You'll only need the 535 oil pan/pick up if using the E28 M30B34 engine, the E34 would be the better one to go for.
Engine £150-250
Gearbox £100-150
Clutch/flywheel £50-150
Prop custom or M3 £90-160
Mounts are available from www.e30.de for £150 inc shipping
Exhaust system £20-£1200 (if you really wanted)
Radiator £30-120
Fan £10-£60
Etc etc
You might get all the above a lot cheaper or choose to buy upgraded newer parts, it really is limited by your wallet..
I was lucky when I bought my engine it came with the custom mounts and an M3 prop, then I bought a complete E28 M30 engine for £50 on ebay with a brand new clutch/flywheel fitted
Good luck mate

auto loom and ecu is totally fine. the only issue is the auto TPS being slightly taller so it just touches the underside of the bonnet but only with the rubber boot on the plug. it can be changed for a amnual one if you want for a few £.
my donor car was an auto E32 735i. remember autos get an easier life and a 735i barge will never get thrashed in the same was as a manual 535i...
i got a E28 single mass flywheel, new clutch, E34 530i gearbox, m3 prop...
if you use an auto donor, don't forget to fit a spigot bearing into the tail of the crank.

Gunni uses the m10 gear box but with upgraded clutch. Have a search through his posts and all will be revealed.

true, i've not seen one of these in the flesh but it's supposed to be ok. also iirc a M20 prop can be used which will also be a lot cheaper

what is needed to do this conversion? ive just got an engine from a 635i auto running fine for a tenner, and hope to fit it to a manual 320i. what parts can i reuse? will the 320 box clutch flywheel etc bolt to the new engine and can i reuse the prop? i was gonna swap the engine looms at the same time - will they just plug straight in? is there anything else im missing? will the 320 exhaust system fit or do i need to replace it? is there anything else that fouls?

well im no expert but i think
you will need different box and flywheel.
The prop will need modifing
you wil need to swap the looms and the ecu anyway.
you will need a new exhaust home made or custom.
i dont really know tho
sure some zoners will come along and tell you
but you should really start doing your own thread and do lots of searching on this site for info on the m30 conversion

you will need a e34/ e32 sump to fit that enginer. Also, be aware that your engine may have the water takeoff on the back of the engine. You can still fit this, but they are a little tighter.essexiain wrote:what is needed to do this conversion? ive just got an engine from a 635i auto running fine for a tenner, and hope to fit it to a manual 320i. what parts can i reuse? will the 320 box clutch flywheel etc bolt to the new engine and can i reuse the prop? i was gonna swap the engine looms at the same time - will they just plug straight in? is there anything else im missing? will the 320 exhaust system fit or do i need to replace it? is there anything else that fouls?
