Depends on how long the engine was left running with no oil in it....
The sumps on the 318i & the 318is are both the same just in case your wondering... i do have a spare one here a well....
How much you been offered it for ?
Where abouts in Bournemouth are you, i'm just up the road in Wimborne, i'll take a look at the iS if you want.

Depends, a shattered sump in it'self is not a problem, you can just fit another one. However the problems would be in how quickly all the oil evacuated it self to the pavement, and how quickly the driver turned the engine off. Obviously it depends on the circumstances but I wouldn't want to buy a car to put the engine in mine if there was any chance of internal damage. Just think of all the hard work you could got to, only to find the big ends are shot and it runs like an elephant in a sack race.
Any pics of the damage possible, or the story of how it happened?
