I've have to push the flap down and put the motor in place, then put a feed to the motor to wind it down.

try inserting the allen key into the hood cover motor and turning it clockwise (i think!). this is the one that releases the hood cover motor in an emergency when the elec hood doesn't work allowing you to raise the hood, so it could work in reverse by locking it!....just a thought?

cac289 - good idea but I don't think so - mine is the same, and locking the motor doesn't wind the mechanism - you want the motor to move so that the 'claws' engage

chu346 - what kind of 'feed' do you have? from where to where?

which motor - the flap or the main hood motor?

The flap motor 'looks' like electric window or maybe windscreen wiper stylee, so if it is that one which is bust take a good look at the serial numbers - BMW would have shared a few items to save money, but the main hood motor is unique and expensive (obviously), and rare 2nd hand

I take a 12+ and a negative feed and put it direct to the terminals on the flap motor, then if I want to open it i just put the wires on the other way round terminals and it goes the otherway. I've got a couple of amplifiers in my boot, so i just take a feed from them. I would advise if your going to do this to use fairly thick wire if your running all the way from the battery and disconnect them when not in use.
