Hi Guys

Im having problems insuring my cab - No one wants to do it due to the mods! - Not even Adrian Flux...

Any ideas where i can turn too??

Details:
1991 325i Motorsport Cab with a 2.7 engine, lowered, chipped, air filter, rear boot spoiler, 5000 miles limited

Valued at 8k

Would like classic car policy if poss.

Adrian Flux seemed very happy to insure my car and mines a 316i converted to a M50 powered 24v 2.5l.

Have you tried HiC? Theyre another modified insurance comp, im sure sum1 here has their number.

Try HIC 08451 290290

They have quoted me for my 3.0ltr 24v conversion and Im 24 (was 23 when they quoted me).

They will cover the lower suspension and air filter (and performance exhaust) all as standard. Just make sure you tell them!!

I cant see the chip or 2.7 conversion being a problem. If the boot spoiler is the Mtech spoiler then thats not an extra mod.

Yeah the boot spoiler could've been an option from the factory....I'm you could've had anything if you wanted it badly enough :)

Somebody'll laugh at me for this, but I thought one of the reasons people did the 2.7 conversion is because it "looks" like a 2.5?! :?

Have you thought it might be the area you live in that's the problem? :(

I use AON classic insurance. Ԛ£380 fully comp (you dont use your no claims bonus either) 5000 mile limited policy (Future classic policy or modern classic) which covers my 1990 M5 AND my 325 cab with motorsport pack.... admittedly all stock..no mods at all but they might be able to help. Tel 01384455011
Only downside is they don't do higher than 5000 mile limited policies and thats shared accross both cars...

Hope that helps

the insurance will only know it's a 2.7 if they take the engine apart, and the chances of that are very unlikely even if u mow down 4 people on a crossing whilst high on some gear.

Yes, but with the amount of info we give out on the forums, there is nothing stopping the inspector to do a quick search on the web and find out the truth.

I'd rather not take the risk for the sake of a couple of hundred quid.

If my insurance is void, i'll have much more to loose - i.e. my car, any other car involved, third party medical claims etc!!

Try a company called Direct Choice, i think they used to be called Taylor Price.

I declared all mods when getting a quote and they didn't run a mile

they were cheaper thay Flux and HIC and Greenlight, all of which specialise in non-standard stuff
