My Neighbour in the new unit is a Citreon speciailst with 22 years experience, he loves the "kermit juice" ride. I shall ask the question, he's a few breakers sat too. No idea how it could be "tuned" though, I'm guessing its a closed loop setup

Nice idea for sure, how easy would cleaning the underside be :D

you just KNOW that we'd all be sat Uber low as much as poss.

As I recall, just ride height - at least back when I had a BXGTI (company car!). Very useful on more than one occasion for leaving pub car parks by unconventional routes :)

Brilliant! i like a good fight!!

I thought the location location comment was a reference to the fact that this post should really have been in a different section perhaps? But i guess its styling too so not sure!

I do actually think the idea is good, why would fitting the adjustable height shock absorbers from a Citroen really affect the handling by that much when say compared to the effect of fitting lowering springs only without fitting matched shocks (as i have)...no one slates this idea.

The main thing you would need to check is the length of the shock absorbers on the Cit, and then how much travel they have from top to bottom of their travel. then you need to find a system that works from a scrap car including the pumps and control units (although i am sure the system as found on older Cits is not complicated, the newer ones may suffer from the Frenchies ability to overcomplicate a car)

assuming the shock lengths are similar (and the mountings are the same) it would only be a case of replacing the E30 shocks/plumbing in the air lines the rears should be easy as the shock only bolts top and bottom, the fronts may prove more tricky as the spring sits on cups fixed to the shock, here is where fabrication may be required.

And finally for those going on about OEM..... most suspension parts (and the parts that need to be swapped to achive this mod) are not made by BMW anyway they are made by Boge, Blisten etc etc, you will probably find Citroen outsource their parts from the same poeple.

After a shite night at work, this is exactly the type of thread to put one back into a good mood. Even if nothing technical can be gathered from this thread, the laughs are certainly worth their weight in gold.

one thing u may struggle with is the fact that if i am right then the citreons only raise the back now i dont know the configuration on the back but it may be different from what you would use on the front, are you looking for front and back raise, imho it is going to cost you to buy a good citreon kit that hasnt got leaks or damaged and then have it fabricated to fit your car, so it would proberly be best to contact a company like rayven to see what they would charge and maybe ask them about the citreon suspension idea, they may laugh and be biased saying the kit is crap or they may give you good unbiased advice and help you on your way, remember nothing is impossible it just needs time, effort and most importantly money to get it done, good luck bud.

Its not too far off the principal behind air susp on showcars in terms of dropping/raising etc.

depends what you want the car for.
You would be better off modifying the existing struts with a kit.

There is a lot of bollocks in this thread - When correctly maintained Citroen hydraulic suspension has a far superior ride to the lumpy experience presented by your typical E30 and can handle as well if not better - drivetrain configurations aside.
It helps when posting if you have actually driven something before slagging it off.
