E30 tappets

just bought my first e30, a 325i touring!

It has a tappet noise.

Is this a major problem and what would i need to do to sort it?

But, could be a number of things...

Does it only do it from cold?

Does it increase in speed with engine speed, or is it constant regardless of engine speed?

what if whwn i take my cover off it isnt as clean as that one ,will an engine flush can and an oil change sort it

It's normal for it become oil stained, the engine in the guide has just been rebuilt, with all new internals.
