I'm not disputing the fact that they will probably work fine and be cheaper than OEM parts, just that it seems a fair bit of money for a rose, bit of bent metal, couple of bits of rubber and nuts and bolts

Definitely - it's always the rubber bush that fails, never the ball joint. Poor design there.Karan wrote:main advantage i guess is the lack of rubber bush... which is the main ppoint of rose joints aswell as adjustability

Yes but if your 20 and your a student and have no access to a car builder or a welder or rose joints or any equipment at all needed to manufacture them then its a lot easier to just not be tight and pay for a set that were developed by a proper company in my opinion.northloop wrote:I'm not disputing the fact that they will probably work fine and be cheaper than OEM parts, just that it seems a fair bit of money for a rose, bit of bent metal, couple of bits of rubber and nuts and bolts
Gareth, do they go around the rose joints then? They look pretty neat!
Handpaper made this point earlier in the thread. I think the rubber parts on the bottom of the arm are meant to be spacers but like said, there seems to be no real need for them; i am thinking of replaced the long bolt that goes thorugh the arm and holds the "u" shaped bracket on with a newer, shorter one, and removing the rubber spacers, (which seemed to crush when you did them up). However, the diagram that comes with the links suggests that, like you say, the bushes should go either side of the arm although i cannot see what this would achieve?harry_p wrote:
are they fitted properly?
surely the rubber / plastic bits are supposed to go one either side of the arm, it looks like you've fitted the link with them both under the arm
Am i right in thinking (after a chat with demlot) that the passengers side should be attatched and adjusted so it fits perfectly first (e.g. with the car on the ground and the wheels straight), & then the drivers side should be fitted with no tension after?stratos wrote:Yes altering the length has no effect on stifness of arb.
These links should be left undone untill all other suspension adjustments have been made ( ride height, camber, wheel alignment etc ).
Then with the car on a level floor connect one end and adjust so that you have clearence throughout the full range of suspension travel.
Then attach and adjust the other end so that there is no tension on the bar. This way the bar will do its job in limiting roll and have no adverse effect on spring rates.

dude the fuc*ing tyre isnt even here!! So pissed off!!
Im not entirely sure as i still have one f*cking pirelli on the front while the royal snail try to get there arses in gear and deliver my new tyre! But the car feels more responsive when you throw it from left to right simultaneously, i couldn't really tell you yet though as driving with an odd tyre fast doesn't seem like a good idea to me mate.

The bushes are sposed to take away the vibration/noise thats involved with using rose joints as opposed to rubber bushes.
