Hi guys,
so who's used Fusion kit. Until the weekend I'd disregarded them as cheap crap. Until... I was in halfords of all places bored on a sunday afternoon getting a few bits for the car. I'd planned on upgrading the front speakers for a while so I took half an hour and listened to the range of 13cm speakers they had. About 7 or 8 different sets from all the big manufacturers.
Long story short(ish) - I chose to pay 19.99 for a pair of Fusion 13cm speakers because they honestly beat the pants in sound quality of all the other speakers they had. 60 quid pioneer, 99quid infinity reference. 45 quid JBL and more. The only thing that came close was the 60quid pioneers - they sounded more bright and the Fusions sounded a little flat but on reflection the pioneers were just too "top-endy". This was tested across three near identical head units, all bass, treble and EQ controls neutral.
The Fusions had real, proper bass, not in huge quantities, but well balanced.
All that for 20quid and the manual even came with FULL tech specs on the whole speaker range.
Fitted in the car on my head unit the story is the same. Much better than the 35quid Alpine components that were in there before.
Fitting wise the stalks that the tweeters are on bulge out the kick panels a little but everything still bolts up ok.
So - anybody else got any stories about Fusion. Good or bad?

Ben, That's more like a full set of speakers for a fleet of taxis!
Fusion are ok for the money, certainly get a lot for what you spend. They will never compete with the "high end" brands, But on a £-quality ratio they are one of the better ones.

Well i kitted out my car for around £1k with the Fusion. I could have bought a nice car for what the JL cost and i'll leave it at that, but the sound difference is like night and day!d6dph wrote:Ben, That's more like a full set of speakers for a fleet of taxis!

In my experience, Infinity are awesome if you stick to the reference series.

I did listen to the reference stuff but I was seriously unimpressed. However - when I thought about it I noticed that all the reference stuff was 2ohm - maybe the amp in the head unit wasn't up to the job ?

Rockford Fosgate get my vote for top end speakers
also, for less money Lightning Audio (If you can still get them) were from the same people and very good qualoty for the money (about a ton for some 6.5" comps)

yep i think business and property dev. are the only ways to make proper money these days, its getting v. competitive round here. and plus, when you run a business in something you enjoy you're bound to excel above the competition.

Long story, but i had a window to have all the Fusion replaced with the JL. I had 2 W7's or order, but the didnt have any and i would have missed my window at the trimmers and would have waited months to get another slot so it was either going with the W3's or waiting for the W7's and missing my slot. I could have used the W7's in my E36, but i didnt think of it! Dor!!bootyman that should sound heavy!! how come you didnt go for the W6's???? only thing with all this ice is that it weighs the car down big time!!

Ha, ha. Mate i have to eat beans on toast to run my cars!ben. it's people like you that make me think there's too much money in the industry you're in
Seriously though. I'm done with the car thing now. I'd like 1 nice car (Maybe a E46 M3 cab or a Merc CLK AMG cab) to run around in and keep the Rieger for the weekend cruizing with the boys and that's it. All other cars will have to go now. I need to start looking at the future now. I started out with a mate and he was buying houses when i was buying cars. He now lives in a 4 bedroom detached house with a double garage, has a X5, a Merc SL500 and a couple of other cars in the drive and goes to Dubai several times a year with his lady. I have a collection of E30's to show for my effort. I say no more

Ha, ha. Nice to see you have faith in me!
Honest that's it for me. I know it is cause i've seen a few potentially tasty cars i would have bought in the past to do up, but i've resisted. My next car will be something practical i could keep for a while. It will have no more than a drop, nice rims and a bit of ICE and the odd cosmetic bits, but trust me, it wont be a feature car
