Try silicone grease as a temporary fix. What is the proplem, has the rubber pitted and split?
hi mate, it just appears to leak from the passenger side. I was told that the rubber seal would need replacing soon when i took the car to get a new hood. I didnt think it was going to cost almost as much as the hood LOL!

Does the rubber look ok under inspection?
If so, there's a chance the hood wasn't fitted as well as possible?
Mine needs adjusting, but I keep putting the job off!!!!

I had the same trouble so if i'm not using it for a while i put a blob of vaseline at the point where the roof meets the top of the door. It seals it 100% until you next open the roof, and i don't think its much bother either seeing as we don't get good enough weather to put the damn thing down much.
I wanted to replace all the rubber's on my cabriolet when going for a respray, that way all the job's are done and out the way. After finding out how much one bit of rubber cost's, i had better re-evaluate

Just had a thought on this one, i have heard in the past that a company in Canvey island does rubber seals for a lot less than the stealers, might be worth a group buy if enough cabbie owners are interested. I think tomorrow i will find out some prices.

Jacko, that sounds good mate.
I got mine a lot cheaper than that from Eastern BMW Edinburgh.Jay_gee wrote:Does anyone know where I can get Cabrio rubber seal that goes across the front of the hood? I tried BMW and they want £130 for a rubber part. Is there anywhere else?
Cheers,

The reason it's expensive is because it's complete with both front door glass seals as well. It's quite a complex moulding and I don't think 130's out of the way for what it is. Cheaper than replacing a wrecked interior or rotten floors.
Be interested if you can get it cheaper though.

B7, When you say front door glass seals do you mean the top edges on the main window or do you mean the quarterlight surrounding seals.

If I am not mistaken the part number is 54 31 8 100 908 for the front seal

It's basically a huge U shaped seal. The header seal part then wrapps round and runs the length of the tops of the doors. It's the seal the window closes up onto.jacko wrote:B7 wrote:The reason it's expensive is because it's complete with both front door glass seals as well.
