Got to get new track day tyres for September but am on a budget so no A048s or 888s etc. looking at about £60 a corner for 205x50x15. Was going to go Toyo t1-R but then found Hankook Track Day tyre RS2 for just £60 (normally 90).

Anyone used them? comments?
I had Yoko A539s on my Westfiekld which were ok and may be a choice.

Ive got Toyo T1-Rs on the back of my 327i, the grip wet or dry is brilliant.

So good infact I hate them & cant wait to wear them out so I can put some cheap & nasties on for some sideways fun :D

Yup i concur, too soft for track, not used the R888 but i really want to give Hankook a try as i have the slick on the Cav diesel and they are very good, not sure how they compare to the T1r's

Right. I have gone with the T1-R's following advice from above and other sources. I'm a little concerned with the risk of them getting too soft (if possible!?) but will let you know how I get on. I have track days on the 1st and 8th of Sept so should be able to get a good feel for them then.

Got em from Camskill, delivered in less than 24hours for £44 quid each.

I did brands with brand new T1-s ( also pretty soft ) and they help up pretty well.

All depends on what sort of use you are going to put them to pure tack or road as well We have used Hankook soft compound on the Rally Isle of Man stages of upto 22 miles warm to hot conditions and didn't over heat them. its all down to what you pay and how far you push the tyres to there limits. I have used Yoko's which I have 2 sets of same compound but one is harder than the other.

Good luck with your choice.

For a consistent compound I would go with the moulded Rally slicks soft compound because you can always cut to inters or wets.

Hi John,

I think I might be interested in some of those tyres for the Jurby Track as my road Goodyear F1's 195/50/15 are starting to wear... Cage has also been fitted so looking forward to the next isle of Man track day on the 15th Sept..

Pm on it;s way to you..

cheers

i wouldnt use llandow as a general guide for which tyres work well on track, that place is notoriously abrasive and will shred the front left in particular on any hard driven car!

when we were there a bloke was down to the canvas on all 4 tyres on his couple of months old porsche 997.
cheers,

harry
