were not knobs, nothing wrong with being honest. and after ur go at us.... it would still fetch more money as a bog standad car. the car has to appeal to the largest audience to get the most money. id like a 325 sport but i dont want a dvd player in my car, got one in my house. im not going to sit in the car with it ticking over while i watch the shawshank redemption. so long as i can heard the radio im not bothered bout stereo stuff and chunks of mdf. i dont do much track work or heavy braking on my way to work. so im out.

I suppose you have to take the rough with the smooth, your never going to please all the people all the time, especially with modifications.

Hopefully some of the comments will help you sell your car, which at the end of the day is what you asked for. and you picked up some usefull information like the manifold.

Good luck with the sale.

im a bit confused actually.....
everyone keeps saying the cars should be as standard, yet there are so many on here that cant even keep the chrome on there grills and around there windows cuz it looks "crap".. have engine conversions, strut conversions etc etc, yet these are deemed acceptable. (ive colour coded mine, upgrading loads so not judging those who have)
who makes the decision of whats allowed and whats not.....

i like barefoots car, including the black wheels, doesnt the fact that he is obviously a car fanatic count for anything.
if everyones car was the same, how boring would car forums be.
i wouldnt dream of slagging anybodys car off cuz i didnt like something on it...constructive critism about some things ok, upsetting the owner because it dosent conform to your taste is a no no,
i say everyone put on your car what YOU like, yes it will then shorten the list of potential buyers when you come to sell it, maybe only because thers so many people out there who will tell them they aint allowed to have so and so on it.

anyway good look with the sale mate, if i had the money i would be interested

Thanks for the good lucks, I bought the 325 as I love E30's (and as you can see most of my cars are 2 seaters) cos its got room for my 2 yr old and to use as an everyday commuter. I forgot to mention that I have screens in the headrests (more costs) for him and that's why I bought a DVD head unit and DVD changer, most of the discs are Peppa Pig and Postman Pat! Fair enough some of you don't want a DVD player but if you have young ones believe me it's a godsend on long journeys and you don't have to use the front screen while the backs are playing.

Sorry for the Knobs jibe but didn't expect people on an E30 forum to say:

“You're making a big thing about the 5 stud conversion but nobody is going to see the benefit of thatâ€a

“Thats a 320 with a saggy retrim on the leather mate! Sport my assâ€a

“thats meen!! but true lol!!â€a

“why has it got a 320 inlet manifold ? has it had cheep engine swap?â€a

“My thoughts exactly. That is no way a standard 325i engine in there, looks like a 320i “

“Can you not have Sport added to the title on the logbook years later any ways which would then show up on the RAC search?â€a

“On the dealer print out of the options the car should have the "M-technik sports paket" Or on the original service book it will have 325i sport as the model along with chassis and engine number. F**k what the RAC says or the log book!â€a

The points about the valet black wheels saggy rear end wrong manifold and steering wheel I take on board that is why I posted but posts like the one's above are just taking the piss. I realise some of you would prefer the car standard yet when I was looking to buy one and that includes all the cars advertised on here and Pistonheads either had different wheels a strut brace sports exhaust different suspension fancy stereos odd steering wheels bigger speakers K&N filters etc etc!! I could not find a bog standard car believe it or not, but I did look at quite a few and all had some rust one place or another!

unfortunately if you ask peoples opinions you will get bad with the good. take the good on board and forget the bad and dont dwell on what some faceless nobodies on an internet forum think. this place has a mix of originality bufties and modders so you will find the right person eventually to buy your car. :D

Firstly calling people knobs because you made the mistake with the inlet manifold and it got spotted is not on. You asked for opinions and opinions is what you got. I'm personally confused as to why you'd scrimp with ebay tat when you have clearly spent vast sums of money on the sport and apparantly some other classics too? Surely you could have refurbed your own inlet for nothing?????

People will part with their hard earned to buy sports for the sums you ask, only if the car is unmolested. Sports carry 'sport tax' and as the cars verge on collector status, become the preffered spec and attract the aformentioned premium. Unfotunately, the things you have done may well have improved the cars ability to perform but 'indervijuwelizin' these cars detract from their value.

Plus, simply put, car ant purchase price 'x' plus money spent 'y' does not equall or justify price 'z'. If you spend silly money on motors, you do it as a hobby, surely as a self confessed 'car nut' (aren't we all??) you'd understand this. Selling the car for less doesn't consititute a bargain, it constitutes where the market feels molested sports valuations should be.

Return it to standard, sell it as the iconic piece of engineering which is what attracts people to them, get close to the price you're asking for. Then sell the stuff you chucked on it seperately in the parts section and make a little money off it.

Take the Ferrari for example. Would you have bought it if it had been resprayed some 'trick' pearlescent colour, with chrome wheels and a ppowerflow exhaust???? I doubt it.

Oh and where would I have seen a picture of the s14 engine on the internet?? You joke about receiving 2 litre comments about it, but outwardly, how does it differ from a 320is engine on an initial glance???

One more thing, why do the 5 stud conversion to stick 15" wheels back on with the wrong tyre wall size?? Are they 5 stud bbs then from a 5 series? The 5 stud seems like a lot of work to put virtually the same wheels back on? Most people do it because deep dish wheels are more readily available in 5 stud.

I called people Knobs because the said it was not a sport but I agree about the manifold my mistake. I never expect to get back anything nr what I put into my cars I know that better than you believe me! As for "molested" next time you take a look at a Sport take someone that knows them well and find one with no rust to me that is far more important than the wrong manifold stereo or steering wheel!

As for my ferraris both have Tubi exhausts and different steering wheels as do lots of Ferraris for sale others with different alloys. And the jibe re the S14 engine was for the "knob" that said ....

“Thats a 320 with a saggy retrim on the leather mate! Sport my ass"

To help with your confusion:

What was said is the car would need to be standard to fetch the asking price.

Had to laugh at the bold statement. In short: No.

Unfortunately, most people's attempts in 'inderviluwelizin' their motahz results in Barryboys type comedy...

3rdly, for barefooot too:

On this forum, we unfortunately get the privilidge of seeing lots of shitters being passed off as decent motors. Early indications from the pictures you posted was that this car had been on the receiving end of some dubious activities.

Opinions were asked for, opinions were given, stop whining and accept what you asked for.

Posting pictures of very fine looking engines and some nice Italian motors doesn't legitimise the sport anyway and I fail to see what they add to this thread, apart from some self gratifying willy waving?

What on earth is wrong with that? Its an E30 forum, and that clearly isnt a standard 325i engine, you said yourself you changed the manifold, and made a mistake with it. Its the exact sort of comment i would expect on an E30 forum.

Anyway, i dont want to get petty. Good luck with the sale :) .

Barefoot: Although you may not like what some people have said on here, this is what "potential" buyers will be thinking. Therefore it is all useful info for you. Surely from the response on here you can see why you're struggling to sell?

I'm confused here.

Why the mobile phone quality photos of a decidedly doggy E30 followed by high quality photos of quality cars? Something doesn't add up here. A tatty E30 in company of Ferraris etc.

If I was the suspicious type I'd say they didn't have the same name on the logbook. winkeye

You can spend as much as you like servicing you car but unless you're talking Ferrari cambelts it won't be reflected in the price.

That 'install' is shocking.

The sub must sound like a midget farting mounted like that.

Retrim looks a bit iffy too and what the f*cks going on with the suspension? Decked back and standard front... broken springs maybe?

My 2 pence.

A set of 16" bbs? They the ones it came from bmw with?

Tatty old 325 'sport' and all those other cars... you obviously have a sh*tload of money so why are you concerned about it selling? Drop the price to £500 and shift it quick if its taking up space in your 15 car garage that you need for your new enzo.

What a crock of sh*t.

My other 2 pence.

No thats me out of money.... oh hangon I found one down the side of the sofa.

Since you are, plainly, rolling in money that you can spunk on fancy cars, why did you buy a really sh*t sony xplod amp and not bother having a box made for your sub?

This def the best forum I been on yet! Not only do I not own a genuine Sport I don't own the other cars in question! This forum has obviously has a few guys in the know. I did not post the pics of my other cars to wind anyone up but it has not gone down too well with some. As for the quality of my pics here is another bad quality one!

Image

And believe it or not just sold the 325 from a guy from York and Knocked off £100! I know there's one born every day but he had looked at loads knew the manifold was the wrong one but said it was the cleanest car by far and was a bargain with the extra BBS alloys and new tyres! Now I wait for the "you full of bull" replies off the learned few winkeye

There are a few unecessary comments here been thrown arround, however funny/true.

However, Barefoot, its also not necessary to show off by posting pictures of your other cars, and to finish it off one of your house? Many of us on here may have nice houses and other cars also, worth much more than a comparitively cheap e30, but we dont feel insecure enough to feel the need to post them up.

Its an E30 enthusiast forum, not a 'look at how big my house is, i must sell honest cars' sort of place :? .
