What is the worst that could happen by having a smaller reg on the front of the car? e.g fine, points ?

This is going on my classic BMW so they will be the old type black and silver number plate.

Thanks in advance

James

I would imagine that would expect you to change it and present it to a Police Station at a later date. Failing that, who knows?

Never had a fine - had plates with dodgy spacing and fonts!!
Have heard the max fine is £1000 though and if you persist, the dvla can take the plate away i think!! Never heard of it happening though!!

Currently got the german E3O XX - spaced wrong and german plates!! When i got pulled, they didn't even comment on the plates!!

When i had my wrongly spaced plate on the 8 series, one copper looked angry and just told me to change it - no paperwork or nothing!!
Another copper said the plate didn't exist! I told him it was spaced wrong and he just said to get it changed by the end of the week!!

I ran an under-size plate on the front of my Orion. It also had illegal spacing, but it was the correct font.
It went through 3 MOT's and I got caught by one of the speed cameras that get you from the front. Never had any problem about it. I did keep a spare standard size plate in the boot, ready to go on if I did ever get pulled - that one just had illegal spacing!
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I had a legal plate. shrunk to about 2/3 normal size on my last car and it went through mot, etc.
