I have really loved the classic 911 since i watched Condorman, I sooooo wanted the flat fronted 911 the silver eyed badguy drives. (probably prefer the henchmens standard ones now though). And yes i would have blacked out windows, on a 911 its not council its menacing!

if i was ever beaten in a race by a french piece of cr*p i would probably either get out and torch my car in the street or crash and pretend my propshaft has snapped from all the torque, so far i have not had to do this...

My best mate has a 3.6ltr 996 911 and i'd never thought of them as a properly quick car untill he let me have a blast in it. I can honestly say it is a properly fast motor.

Not as uber reliable as I thought it would be as picture shows (£25,000 vs £3000 car and his bonnets up more than mine :teehee:)

Yeah.

I remember that film"condom man" with michael crawford "oooh betty".

Condom-mans car was one of those shite nova kit cars. With a pinto in the back probably.

The porsches were the bollocks of course.

I will warn you now so you dont have to burn your car, stay away from the twisties then.

I used to have a 106 rallye and round the bends there wasnt much that could keep up including a 280bhp legacy twin turbo 4 wheel drive. On the straights it detsoyed the pug admittedly, but cornering was unbelievable in the little blighter.

The saxo vtr is the 1.6 8v 90bhp jobby and the vts is the 120bhp 16v which is the same as the 106 gti.

As munky mentioned these cars come into their own when their not kitted to f00k chav style and the power to weight really comes into play

I would definately have another rallye but when I've got somewhere to fix it as it was always breaking

For The Win.

It means it's the best or if you make a comment that 'trumps' another person, you add FTW to the end. Or if you point out something that is funnier that what everyone else has pointed out, then you add FTW to the end. Check Urban Dictionary

The e30 is all about the ride and handling imo. Power comes with mods, but even a standard 325i has such a great feel. I love the way you put it into a corner and it goes round so balanced and neutral. There's so much feedback through the wheel, no torque steer and the ability to make any little adjustments to the line with a little extra squeeze on the loud pedal. OK, you're not actually going that fast compared with many modern machines, and its far far easier to chuck a Fiat Coupe/GTI/Pug or something WWD into a corner and scrabble it round without danger but the e30 just rewards you far more. I also like the way that the standard suspension handles the bumpy country roads round here without the car feeling like its going to shake itself to bits - but that's probably not something that Munky has kept ;)

standard suspension sucks. If your fillings aren't rattling, you're not having fun.

If you want to win races why have a E30?

Imo E30's give you a rewarding drive. You feel like youve driven somewhere in a E30, saxos and shit just feel raged.

Wana win races then do what fuzzy did or even beter but a R32 GTR  then again I do know of a Rover Tomcat smoking a 106 gti and Saph cossie

I was with a mate the other week in his Alfa Romeo 156 V6 24 valve.

We had a 911 pull up next to us at some lights and the Alfa matched it away from them!

Only thing is, with the windows down, it was most obvious the 911 had a slipping clutch! :D

Some gorgeous 911s going on here, I was lucky enough last year to drive a 996 911 Turbo (with four wheel drive and twin turbos) at Preston Hall track. I've always been a Lamborghini nut but that Porsche has left me a different and distracted person! 8O Absolutely stunning car to drive quickly.

911 no chance. But a 325 will beat a 106 gti 0-60. 106 gti is 8.7 while the 325 is 7.2. It will also thrash a saxo vts which is basically the same car as the 106 gti. This is all from tech specs btw.lol.

As for saxo VTR's, well they are rather slow. Even my iS will beat them.

However, im talking about straight line. Twisties would make a difference.lol

But my mini should get em straight line and corners.

haha! When i had my 320i i didn't think i was fast, i was happy to tootle round enjoying the sound and not expecting anything. I expected the 325i to own. As it happens yea its reasonably powerful and nicer to drive, but imo its not fast atall, a standard modern 1800 would give it a run for its money. Even in the day Maestros, Toyotas and Pugs were faster.
On reflection i think i was lulled into the zones imaginative "padding" of the 325s speed.

325i's are not fast! - there i have said it. :D

dunno about that

would say weight distribution and tyres (temps, compound and pressure) make a noticable difference too
