I read in the " E30 restoration bible " that a noisy rear diff could be attenuated by sticking roof insulation under the rear seats. Anyone tried this and did it work before I get stuck in and get all itchy from the glass wool?

well a noisy dif could be fixed with a better dif?
but i bet you have thought of that.
why not just go to a scrap yard with an e30 and and use the sound deadening from that double up on that stuff?
i would not be putting any roof stuff in my car!

Roofing materials, as in what you use on your house, YES, the roofing sheets you get from B&Q is good stuff, you may need two layers but works a treat, you can alos use this in your doors or boot to stop any vibrations caused by bass.
Only real men get it done with an M20

I know you probably want info, not opinions, but surely it's better to fix the underlying problem?
