Where did you get the tubing and what boxes are you using?

Do you need a E30 325 gearshift top linkage (don't know what you call it) that the shifter bolts into?? I've got a spare one from a breaker.

i may take you up on that yet but i have paid for one already so i really want that one.

i will take more pics of the exhaust as i go along. Andy Gall is making that bit as he can weld and is pretty handy when it comes to this stuff.

i did make a mistake with the back box its way too small.
i really wanted a twin exit as it the best look for an e30 thats why i bought the box i did. its just a centre box from Jetex.

i will buy another center box from jetex at some point and put it in.

for the exhaust i bought a few bits from jetex as they do everything.
you can custom make the full exhaust if you can weld.

pics tomorrow if we get to do some tonight?

toby
glad to hear your still using the gear linkage like it is, i will take a photo with it in place tonight as im very happy with how central it is :D

-anyone know/ got pics of which tubes go in to the bulk head (there is 2 of them)

-and how the header tank tubes in.

sorry if i sound dumb.

-also how did you guys mount the fan? i need inspiration

The bottom 1" hose from the stat housing goes to the top stub on the bulk head, the other one that T's off the E34 top rad hose goes to the bottom stub on the bulkhead.

You should have two small oulets on the header tank, one is for over spill which isn't connected to any thing, the other small pipe goes to the top of the rad.

I think you can T off either of the pipes to the heater for the 1" pipe to the header tank.

It's runing fine on the bogo manifold/TB at the mo but.........

Plan A

Run down to Dave Walkers for the mapping on the boggo manifold, swap to the new one when i get there, get mapped.

Plan B

Buy a cheap lap top, fit the new goodies, try to get it drivable then get it mapped

:?: :?: :?:

i'd say manifold swap @ emerald maybe not ideal solution, it's a bit of a PITA of a job and you don't want to rush it and end up mapping the thing with an airleak mate?

i reckon we try to use my laptop and get it driveable? got an inverter for it so can use in car for as long as necessary.

or get a trailer and tow the b**tard with my 205, certainly save on the fuel

You can get cheap turdy invertors for about £13 off the bay, I have one I can post up to you should you need it. I wouldn't mind it back at some point though. :thumb:

I'd go with changing it over, seeing how far off your base map is, and perhaps make adjustments to allow you to take it to 3000rpm with out the risk of damaging it. Then drive slow to Mistro Walkers. How far is the journey?

Manifold's not too much of a PITA because of the amount of times i've done it now, but sods law like you say i could end up making a little mistake which might cost me £Â£Ã‚£.

If you are up for helping out on the mapping that'd be great ! Just got to hope my WB02 still works !

I think i'll pass on the towing idea though  :D

easy but i aint running the car for that long with no exhaust :?

don't cut that off it's there for a reason, so the exhaust doesn't melt the rubber steering coupling 8O

common problem and there are a few ways around it. grind the flange a bit (with the manifold removed), loosen the bottom clamp of the steering joint (where it goes into the rack) and slide the joint a little, raise that side of the engine a little using shims above the rubber mount, or even 'jump' the engine over to the left a little by putting the rubber mounts in different holes on the subframe (there are 2 holes each side as i remember)

left as it is that will probably be fine, except it'll touch the steering around left hand corners

i didnt realise there was rubber under there! 8O

had a good idea its there for a reason that s why i asked. :D cheers toby

i have ground down the flange :D you read my mind.

i think i will see if i can move the rack as you said! then i wil check if i can jump the engine across at all or if there is clearance i will raise the engine that side slightly.

i will put mounts on and check. the mounts are painted now so i need ot put then on.
:D nice bit of silver heat resistant paint

cheers man.

so close yet so far.

If you carn't find one down the scrappy or off ebay then you could order the same one as mine which is from an E28 535, part # 11 53 1 272 866, it suits apx 1" i/d hose and will be only about £2 from the dealers.

keep meaning to do this but it took too long doing other things last night.

attach throttle cable
it will get done.

attach prop and heat sheild
1st job tonight.

all that i can do

make exhaust
i have cut almost everything i need. one more cut to get a better angle on the pipe and i have done all i can do with the exhaust. i need the welding skills of andy and me holding stuff to finish the car.

i only hav one back box and its small so i will be calling jetex next week to order and centre box which i will just cut in when i get it.

1st time was just to let andy hear it

2nd was the same

3rd was a test of some thing????  revved it a few time

still mega load. but i hope once its all hooked up it will shush it up a little.

plan is to finish it tomorrow but we hit a porblem as the steering is hitting the exhaust.

it didnt before so i will get the hammer out and make some adjustments tomorrow.

final day should be saturday, i will report back tomorrow fingers crossed
