well done mate, i did 2 weeks for my work experience in year 10 at porsche in reading, really enjoyed it. now i am just bout to start my 2nd year in college studying motorsport engineering and it really does help getting practical experience. nothing beats the real thing!
wish it was just plug the computer on and fit the bit it says to.i work in a v***hall dealer as a tech and you wouldnt believe some of the diagnostics you have to do.the diagnostic tool gives you a trouble code and you can actuate units with it.you can also read real time data from sensors etc.the problems start when you carry out wiring checks.modern cars have tiny pins in the connections,also there are a lot more electrical systems to test.everything talks to everything else and systems work through other systems that you would never dream affected each other.one example was aircon inop and it was the engine ecu at fault.another was the dash dials stopping working intermittantly,this was the connector to the abs ecu being poor.however,it is satisfying when you sort out something.good luck and enjoy.you will find working on your e30 much more cos you are doing it for fun,not cos youve got to.

Well done, I did something similar to you, when I was 15 (13 years ago) I started a saturday job at a Jaguar and Rolls Royce restoration company, I learnt shed loads but sadly he decided to pack it all in and retire early (45
)
I then did a year full time at college before I signed up to an HGV apprenticeship, I also did a year of body repair as an addittion to this with the same company, at the time a lad I knew who was working at the Local Rover dealer was getting paid £40 a week, I was on £100 and after a year it went up to £120, my third year was £180 and after that I was on full pay, which £19k per year. HGV is the way to go, it`s really quite interesting, having said that I work in an office now

You lucky bastard! But hey, you deserve it for all the hard work and dedication you've put in to your own car. Could be the beginning of a bright future.
Hell, if I lived in the UK, I'd like to spend some time helping out Brian and picking his brains for E30 knowledge! lol
