I've recently aquired an M535i E28. The body is good but unfortunately it has sat in a field for the last 2 years and is a bit red and soft underneath.

I have decided to break her but just wondered what the difference between an E34 and E28 M30 is?

It has 3.2/3.5 on the intake manifold if that helps.

Was gonna sell off the other stuff and maybe keep the engine as it seems sweet as a nut (BMW FSH until 400 miles ago) for a cheap 335i conversion which would keep my spanner fingers agile over the winter.

Of course I would be open to offers on the engine & Ancilleries! winkeye

it's not well suited to the e30 i'm afraid :(

sump oil pickup and exhaust mani want changing for e34 bits, the older motronic requires a manual gearbox with mounts for the speed sensors (i.e. an e34 manual box is no good), there's a coolant pipe on the back of the head to foul the bulkhead that isn't there on e34 engines, the engine loom plug needs cutting off and rewiring from scratch instead of plugging in.....

it's possible (i did it) but i wouldn't do it again.

lol sorry mate :o:

if you're doing it yourself it's still worth doing. i did my 3.5 conversion simply because i had a scrap m535i kicking about and didn't want to bin the engine.

unfortunately the engine turned out to be a bit screwed and i had to change it for an e34 engine which was a pain in the arse as the mounts need re-making etc :x

i'd say if you can get the necessary e34 bits cheap and have or can get a suitable manual box it's worth doing

It's not a lost cause but needs welding. I just dont think I have the energy at the moment.

Chassis leg where the anti roll bar mounts is holed nad there are soft bits up front. Thing is once you start patching something like this its never gonna be a minter.

it doesn't mate. :(

the E34 lump is quoted for power with a cat, that's why it's 211bhp. it actually has larger exhaust valves and probably makes a touch more power than the e28 version as long as you don't bolt a cat to it! :D
