I have a sense of adventure... every time I start my car and get more than half a mile from home its 50/50 if I'll make it back or be left stranded with only a roll of gaffer tape, handful of cable ties and 8 pints of water to get me home...

I actually like the idea of colouring the thingies and shiny bits when doing 'smoked' headlights... I think it would look great on a red or blue or green car, done to match the body colour... but colour matching mine to the body would be... well, you know where this is going....

Though saying that my old e28 had green sidelights (yes I know) and it looked badass at night with just them on... black 528 with green 'eyes'... its what the girl from the exorcist would have driven when she grew up...

Angel eyes are gay. Unless you could get black light angels, now that would be cool

If they didnt have gay angle eyes I'd be tempted... Are they E-Marked?
They are to be found on E Bay. But could you not make some without the angle eyes...

Could you just not plug in the angel eyes?

Cut the wires or something?

Looking closely at them, it looks like the entire reflector for full beam has been sprayed black!

I dont really like smoked lights... bit too predictable for my car. The twin lighs are the single most recognisable thing about an e30 imo and they contrast well with the rest of the car.

They're staying white for now.

I have the black angel eyes on my cabby, they look good (imo) but the full beam does't give any light at all due to the black reflector. I wouldn't have them again.

i think yellow lights would look coool, but i think i'd try and do them the same as the black smokies but instead of painting the cross hairs black use yellow leaving the lenses clear and a white light

Good good, of course you have to remember aswell, if the whole of the car is black, u'll never find the fecker in the dark.

Black lights just go duller...

Yellow lights shine yellow.

Do brake lights light up red?

yup because they have red reflectors, and as the reflectors in the front lights arent painted, as you use a 'x' template in the main beam and jsut paint the back of the dipped beam they wont show red when turned on.

but my point is though Jamie, the way people smoke their headlights would work the same way to do them in Calypso red. i may be wrong and i would admit it if i wrong but i cant see them not shining the correct colour.

1an's right. It shouldnt affect the beam.

It will look weird, but it wont affect the beam colour.

Munky, i like the yellow on your car.

All four in yellow would look cool, but i'd be tempted to do the outer two yellow and the inner ones smoked!!!!!

My hella smokies give off a kinda yellowish light when on and i kinda like it!!

Black lights tinted in the method that Hella did aren't duller, because you don't tint the lenses or the reflectors. Body coloured lights should be the same in terms of illumination (ie what you see from the drivers seat), but they'd look red from the front when off (/on sidelights), & may well get you hassle from the po-lice that you don't need.

Maybe worth a try, but do it yourself ffs, so you can just re-do em if it doesn't work out! I'd use matt paint too, to minimise gain from the 'reflectors' on the outer lights.
