Sorry to be totally plagureistic (trust a student to know that word!) but here's to a balanced arguement.
  • Blowing away Mini Coopers in a car that looks shit scruffy (& only Ԛ£400)
    Rear wheel action
The noise is all engine not bean tin exhaust
The fact that every time I drive it I say to my self "oh yeah thats why I bought this car"
Having to make up excuses to go for a drive
Oh and effortless rock steady 100mph crusing on the motorway
And the fact all the bolts come undone when I work on it
I could go on but I'll leave you guys some options :D

out accelerating hot hatches, but from 20 - 60 mph, in 5th!

having to fight to control wheelspin off the line, in 2nd...

being able to pretend i only bought it as a sensible family car, "ideal for towing dear"!!!

:yeahthat:

Also:
1) The fact you know it'll go on forever as long as you change the oil and don't rev it when it's cold :)

2) The way you know exactly what all the wheels are doing

3) The way you can explain to people how it's an old, heavy car with 184k on the clock and so an uneconomical engine so that they pay a "reasonable" amount in petrol money....and then get 40mpg out of it

4) Knowing that the way it looks is never going to go out of fashion :D

Too many others to list!

(1)The sound of that six cylinder,it's intoxicating.
(2)I love the way you can blip the throttle, the e36 is lame in comparison, the e46 even more so.
(3)The longing looks you get driving into a filling station forecourt.
(4)Driver feels connected and as one with the car.
(5)The fcuk off look of the front of the e30,has to be intimidating for drivers of lesser cars when they look in the rear view and think they're about to be violated from the rear

if i had a clarkson moment, iԚ´d prbably have a load more cars to judge the e30 against, and saying that i havent driven a 2.5 with an l.s.d (an experiance yet to savor  ) so i dont realy know how good it could get, but i have always liked the fat cat stance, and an m20 has one of the meatiest notes on the road imo, so as long as i get to put in all i could possibly retro fit then i dont think iԚ´ll ever want for another car

It's still cool!

It drifts nicely.

You can fix it yourself (normally!).

Parts are cheap.

Fun to drive.

I could go on all day about it's understated classy looks, it's high-speed stability, it's predictablility, availalbility of parts and mods, but at the end of the day, who am I kidding....

It's all about that sweet sweet song as the needles passes 4000rpm.. :drive:

ask a child to draw a car on a piece of paper and they always draw something with a bonnet a boot and kind of square, in fact very similar to an e30, hence its the perfect shaped car.

and finally when i am followin my Mk1 sport from behind i love the way the boot is as low as the bonnet and you can almost see straight through the car, looks proper old school without being old.

(dont try asking kids down the park to draw cars by the way i think they have laws about that in uk!!??)

1. The handling - my 323i with only slightly modified suspension keeps up with most things around corners, and is quicker than quite a few. Feels nicely balanced too.
2. The exhuast sound - I am not a big fan of the engine sound (probably because of the tappet noise which could be because the head is a bit worn) but when I have my window down and the exhaust sound echos in (like when I drive next to wall or through a tunnel) it makes me smile, every time. I have a custom 2.5" exhaust with 6 branch and straight through mufflers that probably helps it a bit.
3. The way the interior is focussed towards the driver - The center console is tilted that way and the whole thing just seems driver oriented. That doesn't seem to be happening much anymore, the E36 is ok but the newer 3 series and a lot of other cars seem to have the interior less driver focused.
4. RWD - Self explanitory(spelling?) really :D .

despite all its floors i love mine.

straight 6 sound is the sex
rear wheel drive is what i mainly love about it.
i love my stripped out interior.
I love that how crap the standard LSD is yet its still fun
i love the rust holes in the floor
i love the stupid tappety/injector racket.

its just a fun cool car. it has character i think.
