My Touring has the standard black plastic rocker trim that seems to be exclusive to Tourings. When I pulled off the short front segments I found rust hiding underneath on both fenders.

Rather that do a repair, I'm planning on just ordering new replacement fenders. My question is, do Tourings have the EXACT same front fenders as all other E30s? Because there are all sorts of special clips and plastic rivets that hold the rocker trim on, I'm worried that there might be some subtle difference.

Anyone have experience?

Hello KDS, i'm guessing that fender = bumper but what do you mean by plastic rocker trim? any pics would help alot. If it's the panal under neath the front bumper it's really easy to remove/replace these as their bolted in with no welds anywhere.

Or, fender = front wing. If so then yes these are the same as saloon shape ones, the only two that you can't use are the cabby ones (little bit longer) and the M3 ones for obvious reasons. Same again with the wings, remove all plastic inner arch protectors, remove front bumper, remove all screws from the wing ie; all along the bonnet edge, above + below the lip under the head light, some where the bumper ends and lastly not forgetting the two that are located inside the wing where the door hindges from. Then lift the wing off the car being carefull not to bend it.

Hope this helps you out mate, Neil.

I think:

Fender = wing
hood = bonnet
rocker = sill

Okay, okay, okay! Sorry for all the North American speak.

As Nelly guessed, fender=wing. By rocker trim, I mean the black strip that runs along the whole length of the car, below the doors, between the wheel arches.

So, back to the original question: are Touring wings slightly different in order to accomodate the "rocker trim".

After all that - - - - no, you'll be fine if you don't use cabby or M3 trims.

You'l have to drill a couple of 10mm? holes in each wing (fender), but otherwise they are the same. Same applies to the cills (rockers).

No it's 'sill' :lol:

Construction tends to use 'cill' for some reason :) :mad:
