A good t5 will wipe the floor from any speed. But take one on at 50mph+ and he'll make you look like an idiot!

Agreed... which is why I 'took him on' from a standstill to about 80.

Morat - the police used the t5r.

I'm lead to believe that the wheels is 20% down on the flywheel figure - can someone confirm? If so, its 190+-bhp at the fly which rocks.
i was told the flywheel figure is usually 10-15% higher than @the wheels but im no expert. couldnt the r/r operator work it out for you? how come some r/r'ds give a flywheel figure and others give at the wheels figures when all measure at the wheels? :?
My old dyno used to measure power and torque at the wheels only. I used to calculate around 18% losses but depending on what the arrangement was and what car it was. For a car upto 300BHP this proved pretty reasonable and pretty accurate. But since I dyno'd an Invicta the other day on our new dyno it came out as 498bhp at the wheels with 549bhp at the flywheel, had 530lbsft torque too  If you took into account 18% losses on that car you would calculate that the Invicta had around 600bhp at the flywheel. Thinking about it, using that method you could get to a point where the flywheel fiqure could seem impossible with the spec the engine was built to?? But dyno's are weird and wonderful things that help people tune thier cars. Figures shouldn't be taken too seriously and you should always uses the same dyno for before and after comparrisons IMHO.

Okeys... my cars, on my dyno or the same make of dyno:

318is 147BHP Standard with 170k on the clock.
325i tourer 169BHP Standard 115k on the clock.
M3 Evo2 226BHP Standard but Unichiped with AFM removed.
M3 Sport Evo.. 225BHP Standard, but with shorter stroke 2.3 crank(DONT ASK!!) and Unichipped.
Swift GTi 225 BHP Standar internals supercharged with Unichip and 12psi boost.

Dont you think having so many cars, specifically 2 m3's, is a bit selfish... share the love.

Yes that is correct  But the 318is does tend to make all the claimed power and then some!

my 316i is pushing out 70bhp about 20 less than normal, it takes years of meticulous dedicated lack of oil changes to reduce the piston rings and compression to achieve such a figure

I've lost interest in measuring power TBH. Even measuring wheel power is not an exact operation, then we have the ridiculous loss figures most max-power rolling roads use, giving meaningless flywheel figures which are then rounded up so that they compete with the total bullshit others make up.

Having said that, my 195K 318iS seems to go pretty well for what it is, so I expect it to be making around the standard power, say 135BHP. Top speed is on a par with my old Astra GTE 2.0 8v, which had somwhere around 132 BHP, but better drag coefficient.

Now who's rounding up? :teehee:

Dave's car has a 3.5 M30 engine. Those figures are for the second run we did, which was different than the first run of 190-odd BHP. I'll let him tell you what was different between the runs if he wants to tell you? 8O

Not so much the ECU, its the map inside it  It was way too lean and I would suspect the timing to be a mile off too.

Come on Dave, let me re-map it with the Unichip :D You know you wanna!
