**ERGENT MEGASQUIRT mapping help needed!**

Hi, i am doing a turbo conversion on my e30 325 and have come to the stage of setting up the megasquirt ecu. The problem i am having is that the computer wont seem to connect to the ecu. Also, if it did manage to connect, im no expert anyway where i live having no car is a problem, therefore i am desperate for somebody to come and help me get the ecu working and give it a bsaic map!?

I did ask ant, and although he has been a brilliant help, he wasnt sure why it wasnt connecting??

If anybody is good with this type of thing, i live near silverstone?

I'm not any good with this type of thing, but I know computers. I would look in device manager and make sure you have the correct driver for the type of connection. I presume it is a serial port? if so then maybe using the hyperterminal in accessories for a connection. On the other hand you may have to configure the port manually which means you will have to set it an IRQ and such.
Not sure if any of this will be any help.

How are you connecting to the Ms via a computer; is it through a USB to serial cable or just a plain serial cable?

If its the former, make sure you have the right driver as said above.

If not, i would bet money on it being that you have downloaded the wrong version of megatune for your version of MS. What version of megasquirt exactly are you running?

all i know is that ant sent me the box and the disc so it should be correct??

and its a serial port with the right cable (from ant) and in device manager nothing else is running and it says (COM 1) which is what im using on the megatune program and it says ( no respone!)

how do i set an igr?

is the ecu hooked up to your car or are you trying to connect to the ecu to configure it before you install it into the car.
the ecu needs power so will only work if its getting it.

everything is hooked up to the car mate. the megatune picked up the ecu for about 3 seconds and then cutt off again before i could do anything! I have tried different cables and different laptops and it all does the same thing

also, before the first time it worked, the fuel pump came on for a few secs then turned off, but since it stopped working again the fuel pump stays on continuously! Im pretty sure i didnt change any setting thou as it didnt work for long enough!
