changing the lsd from 1 diff to another

hi all
does anyone know how to whether its a difficult task to take the lsd pack out of 1 diff and fit it to a open diff?
is there a guide to this?
reason i want to do this is because i cant find a lsd with a ratio of about 3.25 and the m3 diff is too hard and too expensive to find

also the diff im taking the lsd out of is a 4.10 which is very rare and would like to know what its worth?

Is the 4.10 a small case diff? Don't know if a small LSD would fit in a medium/large case? 4.10 diffs make good money anway - probably as much as a 3.25 would cost...

I want to know the same thing though - 3.91LSD with a noisy input shaft bearing + perfectly good 3.64 open diff... how much work to end up with a 3.64LSD?

mines not a small lsd its the medium case that fits 325's and cost way more then a £100 mate

i can put you in touch with someone who has a medium case 3.38:1 188mm CW&P that you could put in your diff if you like.
he's after £65 delivered iirc

how about £150?? mines a 320i touring '89. i think its a 4.4 to 1 thats in mine, the tag is missing on it but ive counted the turns of the prop to turns of the wheel and its just under 4 and a half does this sound right? one thing i do know for sure, its definatly an open diff!
what ratio limited slip would be best to put in it???

I would sell/swap the diff.

I know someone who has a mint 3.64lsd who will do a straight swap for your 4.10.
