errr? shouldnt it be closed if it isnt in the car? Unless you put your central heating on _Really_ high?!

I dunked mine (from a 320i and replaced earlier this year) in a mug of recently boiled water. It opened a few mm and promptly closed again..

Boiling it up in a pan (hopes the missus isn't reading..) it looked to open about 10mm? The sealing plate had moved higher than the rim.

thats looks/sounds about right to me, the piont of them is they only open that far if its that necessary when getting that hot.
