what are the main differences when the facelift was done

front grills

heard engine was different (lower comp pistons???), would facelift parts fit?

anything inside???

was the structure of the car changed anyhow,

i have been told that the rear arches were different in the pre facelifts

the rear arches were higher so the older ones look like they are on stilts compared to facelift cars. The rear seat height was changed up or down i can't rember which way though. Lowr rear vanlance too. Dofferent front valance with different fog lamps. I don't think the front grills are different. 325's had a lower compression ratio to make them work with cats i think also. 1.8's changed from M10 engine to M40's. 320's had a small power hike to 130bhp.

Big brake cooling ducts on the facelifts - handy :)

Body's were also zinc plated which is why the pre facelifts tend to rot alot quicker.

I remember a parts man at a dealers once telling me that every panel was different in some way, some more obvious than others. I had series one 323 and tried to fit some facelift trim bits I got cheap from a breakers and none of them fitted. They are really different cars but look similar!
